India v West Indies 1st ODI
First topic message reminder :
India have lost an ODI series in India only once since 2005, so a very tough task ahead for the Windies. But there will be no Tendulka or Dhoni for this series and the Windies will benefit from Pollard and simmons return. High scores are predicted for this series, so the bowling will come under real pressure, and India's green attack will be interesting to watch.
India win the toss and will bowl.
Teams:
India - PA Patel, V Sehwag, G Gambhir, V Kohli, RG Sharma, SK Raina, RA Jadeja, R Ashwin, R Vinay Kumar, VR Aaron, U Yadav.
West Indies - LMP Simmons, AB Barath, DP Hyatt, DM Bravo, MN Samuels, KA Pollard,D Ramdin,AD Russell, DJG Sammy, A Martin, KAJ Roach.

Re: India v West Indies 1st ODI
oh a suicidal mix-up and Ashwin is run out. Sharma turns for two but Ashwin is never interested. Sharma keeps on coming and Ashwin has to sacrifice himself for Sharma, this game just got that bit more interesting. Surely time for Roach and Russell to come back on?

Good communication there...
Ashwin's fault for me, Sharma going to danger end.
Good that he sacrificed himself though...

From 59-5, India have done mighty well to be 191-7, but Sammy may have got a few things wrong.

India win. Quite some game in the end, for all the wrong reasons. The groundsman said it was a possible 300 pitch.
WI will not be happy after having India 59-5.

Re: India v West Indies 1st ODI
Although Rohit Sharma has every right to be disappointed, and R Vinay Kumar needs a bit of talking to for having what cricinfo described his Srinath Moment, the ultimate spectacle was terrific. It was terrific to watch, one of the most enjoyable cricketing moments for me, and this time at the end of all, we had the right result as well!!.

can someone explain why Rahane isnt playing? if he is injured then fine. If not then it baffles me.

Re: India v West Indies 1st ODI
Rahane was benched, as India want him to open, but in Sehwag's return and Dhoni's absence, Patel had to keep and open the batting. The only other option was Rahane for Rohit, but Rohit's got more firepower for the middle order.cricketfan90 wrote:can someone explain why Rahane isnt playing? if he is injured then fine. Re: India v West Indies 1st ODI
I wanted to say how impressed I have been with Umesh Yadav, this guy seems to be the real deal for India. IIRC he clocked 147.8kph, pretty impressive on a pretty slow deck. Varun Aaron seems to be slightly over hyped, tipped to be able to bowl 150+kph, but has rarely gone passed 145kph. Rohit once again showed how much talent he has at his disposal. For me Rohit is streets ahead of Kohli, who once again showed he can't play short pitched bowling. If Raina gets slaughtered for it, why doesn't Kohli? India's three most promising batsmen are Rahane, Rohit and Pujara. The rest are flat track bullies.

Re: India v West Indies 1st ODI
hmmm well there must be a better keeper batsman than Patel
wriddimahn saha????
you could bat him 7/8 drop one of the bowlers, and u have Rahane in there, who is a top talent.

Re: India v West Indies 1st ODI
Not as simple as that CF. India only play 4 bowlers plus Jadeja. So dropping either Vinay Kumar/Yadav/Aaron/Ashwin would mean Rohit/Raina/Sehwag having to bowl 10 overs between themselves. Saha's a good keeper, by all accounts, but lets be honest, Dhoni isn't really replaceable for India.cricketfan90 wrote:hmmm well there must be a better keeper batsman than Patel

Re: India v West Indies 1st ODI
also a bit of a mystery to why Gambhir bats 3. He does so well opening in tests, he might as well do the same in ODI'S
and also him and sehwag know each other inside out.
