I remember an interview post 2003 with Martin Johnson, where the the interviewer asked how much impact had all the hard work of SCW and his coaches had on achieving their win as a percentage. Johnson's answer was "90% good players, 10% good coaching, and I am being generous to the coaches!"

You can only coach what you have before you. If the quality are good then good coaching and preparation will take a team far. But you need to have basic ingredients.

Well, all that money saved on win bonuses, accommodation for the last couple of weeks of the RWC, current head coach and CEO salaries had to be spent on something,,,
