Seniors Sections
Do you think that golf clubs should follow the example of government and start to increase the ages and decrease the benefits of senior golfers?

The senior section at my club do ok, my problem is, I cannot find the time to join them, they play 2 matches a week on a home and away basis, followed by a 3 course meal, all for £6.50, is that not a bargain

I don't qualify for the seniors yet,
but don't see the need if the Golf Club is running well,

Re: Seniors Sections
I've twice been old enough to play in seniors events, and the following year been too young. Work that one out (and here's a big clue, I'm getting older, not younger).

Re: Seniors Sections
Big difference, in the mind at least, between seniors golf and veterans sections!
Have a look at the UK Senior Golf Association website and you will see a whole vista of opportunities waiting for you in the future. Good quality competition, handicap limit generally of 8, former pros and county/international ams compete.
Vets sections on the other hand - really nice guys who have more banter than you might think and enjoy their golf! When a former captain at my club said he was going to institute a cull however it appeared very popular!!!!!!!!!!!!

George.
I think the Golf Unions kept changing the age definition of a Senior, is 55 now?

Re: Seniors Sections
Yes, it,s 55 now I think. Clubs are changing the definition though. At some it's still 50, others have moved to 55 or 60. I was old enough to play in a seniors event at my club, won it, then the eligibility was changed to 55, so I couldn't defend the title. 4 years later I was looking forward to defending my title, now the eligibility has changed to 60, so I'm too young again.
It's bizarre.

Re: Seniors Sections
Frighten the prize winners? Nah, not so much these days. I did win the seniors event a few years ago though - before I was too young to participate! What a bizarre conversation. Like something out of back to the future.
There's a lot of good senior players these days. The guy who won the English seniors plays at my club, but he isn't old enough to compete in the club event either. Really bizarre.
