Why are there so many different sections on here?

In an all too often moment of boredom while looking through the football section of 606v2 it occured to me that compared to all the other sports on here there is a huge number of subsections. Why I ask, is this so? There is a fair bit of interest on here but it is all split up and if it were not like this I think there would be a bit more activity on this board with people joining into discussions that there normally join into. For example if the rugby board (The most popular here) were split up between the countrys or leagues then I think the discussion would be somewhat lessened, I support Ireland and Munster so I wouldn't go into a Wales subsection normally dispite the fact there might be a good debate going on. The same in my opinion applies to the football fourm.

There are also slightly more topics post here then the golf and cricket fourms but yet there are 3 times more posts in the golf one and almost 4 times more in the cricket one. These are not split up as much and therefor have better discussion. There has been 5 topics posted on today, only 5! Sure some of it is down to it being the weekend but I think the numberes would go up if it was less spread out in the different sections.

Am I alone in thinking this or are there others? Thanks for reading anyway and hopefully an Admin or Mod will give the reason and our their opinion. Also if anyone has any ideas I'd like to hear/see them.

People have suggested turning it into one big section before, but it was like at the beginning of this board and the discussion was less than it is now. It's hard to compare the golf and rugby boards to the football one as when setting up the board, the founders targeted certain sections of 606 and football wasn't one of them, rugby and golf were.

I honestly don't think that the debate would be better with one big section, as so many good topics could be lost if they were all stuck together, it also looks a bit more attractive with them split up and easy to find discussions, so if you fancy discussing international football you'll know where to go.

I do think there is an issue here, such as the section which get relatively little traffic, however I do not believe this is down to the subsections but rather the lack of football posters on this board.

I think your right regarding sub sections not being the main problem with the lack of posters but in my opinion a few of them could be merged together at this point.

The League 1, 2 & Non League could be merged in my eyes at this time along with the Fantasy/Prediction Leagues being put together under a Football gaming section.

I prefer individual sections as it's easier to find the type of conversation you want but until such a time that more posters come along for certain areas then I think a few merging's would keep things more streamlined and less ghost town.

Ok thanks for that, I suppose having one big section is not to everyone's liking. I will say though that Dass made a good point with the sections he mentioned as well as maybe the two scottish sections being merged.

I agree the football section should be all one section like it was on the beeb..it opens up more debate
