You love a bit of Hafeez don't you, cf!

Had a decent year, but couldn't ever say he was the overall player.

Gregers, excellent point on Nixon's catch, tremendous, and I will edit it into my vote.

Hafeez is the most improved cricketer on the planet. With bat, ball and in the field

each to their own.

Batsman of the Year (Tests) - Ian Bell (Pure quality and average of over 100; Dravid and Cook as runners-up)
Batsman of the Year (ODI) - Virat Kohli (More runs than anybody else and part of World Cup winning team; Trott and Jayawardene are runners-up)
Batsman of the Year (t20) - Mahela Jayawardene (Two fifties in three games and adapting to a format that people wouldn't think him to be a natural in; Watson as runner-up)
County Batsman of the Year - Marcus Trescothick (Outstanding as ever; James Taylor as runner-up)

Bowler of the Year (Tests) - Saeed Ajmal (Incredibly consistent as Pakistan continually improve as a side; Anderson and Steyn, who has only played 3 Tests this year up to today, as runners-up)
Bowler of the Year (ODI) - Shahid Afridi (Has found consistency as a one-day bowler despite being 'retired' for half of the year and particularly brilliant during the World Cup; Malinga and Ajmal as runners-up)
Bowler of the Year (t20) - Mohammad Hafeez (2 wickets a match at under 5 an over for somebody considered to be a batsman this time last year; Bopara as runner-up)
County Bowler of the Year - Kyle Hogg (Key role in Lancashire's Championship win; Panesar, Richardson and Masters all runners-up but ultimately didn't bring home silverware)

Fielder of the year - Rikki Clarke (In the absence of anybody truly tearing things up in the field in internationals this year a mention for his world record number of outfield catches in an innings and a couple of televised stunners)

Overall player of the Year - Saeed Ajmal (see above and great in all three formats; Cook and Hafeez as runners-up)
Overall young player of the Year - Darren Bravo (Inconsistent first half to the year but stunning last couple of months; Cummins, on the basis of 1 Test, and Kohli as runners-up)
Rookie of the year (Must not have played before this year for his country ) - Devendra Bishoo (A very strong start; Brian Vitori from Zimbabwe and Pat Cummins are my runners-up)

Match of the year - South Africa v Australia, 2nd Test
Moment of the year - The last wicket to end the Ashes
Catch of the year - Nixon in the T20

Shelsey, do you mean SA vs Aus, 2nd test?

Some good picks there. Rikki Clarke was a great shout, he had a tremendous year in the field.

Guildford - great minds. Only just noticed this thread - going down it in order. Even before I reached yours I thought - where is the Viscount? Very Happy

Also strongly support suggestion of Rikki Clarke as fielder of the year. clap

I used to follow but not contribute to the 606 forums on the BBC site and heard about this site when 606 was closed. I was reminded about this site and decided to join after seeing a couple of references to it in December's All Out Cricket magazine

thumbsup good stuff. By the way, if I can interest you, we have a fortnightly Hall of Fame vote (we are creating our own, given that we think some members of the current ICC HoF have walked in a bit too easily!) and the vote is about to be counted (see page 10 of it for the 5 candidates this week Garner, Gibbs, Gooch, Gower and Graveney).

Feel free to get involved and submit your yes or no votes for each.

Cheers.

we're horribly elitist in our HoF aren't we? Still I think it's fair enough, after all HoF status is not something that should be handed out lightly Very Happy

I'll get my votes in for this one tomorrow...

Even if he had a great year, he deserves not to get the award for that drop of Sehwag last week! What a shocker!

Absolutely, In Tests he has 18 catches with some corker catches, and 10 in ODI's. Not many better than that. End of Year Awards 3602195817
