Cricket on British Pathe
Don't know if this is something that everybody already knows about, but British Pathe have an online archive http://www.britishpathe.com/ which features a good number of films on cricket from the beginning of the century up until the 1970s. Although much of the film is silent and glimpses of actual play are often brief, for those interested in cricket history (like me) there is much to enjoy, from Hobbs and Sutcliffe batting in 1926, to Bedser bowling to Miller in 1946, or Benaud (and others) bowling in the 1961 tied test.
Just put cricket in the search engine and see what comes up. Enjoy

Fantastic stuff, Hoggy, thanks for sharing that. If the majority agree, maybe this is a thread we can stick in the honours board sub-section, for preservation purposes.

That's really interesting. It could even do spin - I thought bowling machines couldn't do that until Merlin was intented to cope with Warne! A much simpler design than the heavy thing on legs which we have at my cricket club. And great quality footage, considering this is 1964.

Wonderful! Thanks, Hoggy.
Particularly liked the reference in the written summary to ''his neighbour Mr Watson''. I guess that was his fifteen minutes of fame.
