The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the wedding pictures of Father Christmas, Sean Lamont and Paddy Wallace above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

MrP. Son no. 1 Kiefer can skate like a pro. Liam, not so good. I'll post the result on FB. Feic it, its time for making a gobshoite of oneself and having a laff. At that, I am a Pro.
MrsP, yeah for shame. All Dutch kids can bike, skate and swim by the age of 3 or 4. It IS a prereq. I just hid from their laughter. Kids can be soooo cruel.

Sorry MrsP but that's hilarious! I suspect that Santa viewed last year as an exception and, as you are at home this year, he sees it as back to business as usual. I reckon your house is on his schedule for Christmas Eve

Disgraceful behaviour. Power to the younger generation. Forget Libya, Egypt and the Arab spring people will talk about this for years to come. The little ones get my vote.

Does the season of goodwill mean you only have to be nice and giving around Christmas and that's it?

Munsty - shopping centres are always dark, souless places. Hooray for internet shopping and local shops! Yesterday was a bit mad though. Took my bus half an hour just to get across the city centre cause of the traffic. It was bonkers.

Hi all,
MrsP I have voted. You are a heartless wench!!!
Heard a very interesting radio discussion earlier talking about how when suffers a bereavement the first Christmas without them isn't that hard. Its the SECOND christmas thats the killer.
Reasoning being the memories of them alive are easier to remember, your mentally prepared for the fact it will be tough and people will remember that you lost someone. However 2nd Xmas is that bit harder.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Evening Staggy - one of the girls I work with lost her dad in September, and she's dreading this first Xmas without him. She says she can't wait to get back to work next week and it's all over. I think it's difficult regardless, depending on how someone is affected by the bereavement really.

Yes thats true. I would imagine there is no such thing as an easy Xmas in that situation. Very sad.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
MrsP,
I certainly did. It was saved though when I met an old friend who I haven't spoken to in a while.
Cari,
I would have preferred to have done it in Chester but had no money till I got back. Much nicer there.
Notch,
People are amazing but they are tricked into this idea that if they don't get the right thing, Christmas will be ruined.

That's consumerism for you!
I actually prefer gifts that have a lot of thought and consideration put into them, rather than something flash - I'm not fussy really when it comes to pressies.
It's still 0 - 0 at the CCS, both sides missing penalty kicks. Gav made a bum pass too. ah well, it's been a while...

That's the problem isn't it?
Everyone has this image of what Christmas is supposed to be like and it pretty much always falls short of the Disney version.
Just enjoy being with those you can and let them know you love them.
The rest is just tinsel!

Well, it's the Ulster Ravens essentially. I think it's smart. Season after season with our small squad we run out of gas in May because players are asked to play too many games. Players need this break. We've chosen to give about 15 players an extra rest ahead of Munster's visit; along with the Irish internationals and quite a few injured players it adds up to a grand total of 26 missing players which is unfortunate, but as McLaughlin said you can't ask players to play two high-intensity games within the space of four days.

Nah, I think you're wrong there Pete. With the players we've got missing Leinster could easily sneak a LBP
5 players making their Ulster debuts so a very special week for them.

Morning All. Look at the time! Been up for nearly an hour. Why doesn't my body clock know it's a holiday now?!
Gibbo - glad you had a good laugh at the skating. It's great fun whether you're good at it or not, more so as an adult I think. I haven't been skating since I was about 12/13 years old. Never let go of the side when I did it!

Cardiff Glas.
Cheers Glas.
We raised £3400 on the float over advent. Office party over for another year. The champagne moment went to our divorce solicitor who asked a man if he was on the market, when she meant to ask if his house was on the market.
Going to fetch the turkey and veg from my mates farm shop shortly and then start my present shopping this afternoon.
So if I don't 'see' you till Boxing Day, take care, have a merry Christmas and a tidy New Year.

Well, happy Christmas Eve. I am in work!
But it'll be quiet. Someone actually left a crate of beer in for all us track attendants working over Christmas (I am working today the 30th and 31st, but others are working the 27th to the 29th). Times like this I wish I drank.

Sounds like you had a good laugh Gibbo. I'm decent( I only fall once or twice) when I get a head of steam going, it's kinda like that terrible song the "Cha-Cha Slide" you know slide to the left, slide to the right and so on. My sister (she's autistic) is a natural at it she's got amazing balance.

I'm watching one of my new DVD boxed sets. Other than that, no plans for today really.
Notch - I know the feeling not drinking. Still, they could've left you some chocs or sweeties, how inconsiderate! I'm working myself on the 28th. 29th and 30th. At least we're allowed to dress down again so it'll be a bit more relaxed.

Great post yesterday Gibbo summing the regs up... you are the jewel in the crown surrounded by all the other precious gems. The icerink in Brighton sounds a scream too. I'm useless on skates; I get wet very quickly on my orshe. Wishing you all the peace and happiness with the family and friends.
Wishing everyone else on here a great Christmas Eve and Christams Day too. Carols in the Park is underway in the Domain in Sydney.. sort of brings a tear to my eye when they sing the John Lennon Song - Merry Christmas (War Is Over) and you see thousands of little kiddies waving candles and coloured torches.
Glas and Notch... have a good one guys and Thom... give your sister a big warm Aussie hug from me. And Go the Reds!!
