Brand Extension
Seeing as the last couple of months have been called Raw "Supershow" & Smackdown "Supershow", does this mean that there's no longer the point of having a Brand Extension? I think it's great they can use this platforms to really build up important storylines but who can really keep track of who's meant to be a memeber of what roster, and who's next line for a title shot for each of the brands respective Titles. For me it completly de-values the number of title runs that wrestlers can get today such as Orton & Cena, where guys back in the day of having 1 mayjor world title never got the chance to hold the "big one".
Now do you think that the next step would to scrap one of the big world titles and have one big roster, which might mean releasing some of the talent, or keeping the brand extension if they filter out the rosters and had more options within each brand so the same small crowd don't take it turns to hold the titles.
Discuss.

Re: Brand Extension
They should either abandon it alltogether or keep it strict.
Im a massive advocate of the brand extension, each show had a PPV every 2 months plus the big 4. It gave the writers 8 weeks to write storys, and force them to come up with enough content to fill a 3 hour show. And it worked. You look at PPV's from 2003-2005 and you even had an investment in the undercard matches.
It also made it a much bigger deal when a Smackdown guy showed up on RAW and Vice Versa, and the Royal Rumble gave us a chance to see fights we wouldnt normally get to.
The current Roster is too over inflated to be able to have just 1 world title. We've got Cena, Punk, Sheamus, Orton, Miz, Henry, Bryan, Del Rio, and to a lesser extent Barratt, Rhodes, Big Show, Ziggler, Christian, Mysterio, Swagger... It goes on and on. Compared to the Attitude era when we had Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Undertaker, Mankind, Kane, then Kurt Angle.
15 guys who could main event vs 6-7. You cant possibly have that much talent for 1 world title.

This. Exactly what I was going to say.
You either don't have separate brands, or you emphasise the brands being separate. It negates the problem of having too many PPVs as you get a totally fresh roster every other PPV apart from the Big 4 where you get both brands. Mid-card titles would mean a lot more and there is a chance for the tag team or cruiserweight division to build up as one brand could do one or the other.

I don't agree with that at all, there is no-way guys like Swagger, Ziggler, Mysterio, Barrett, Bryan or Rhodes should be considered main eventers and even then I'd not include Show or Henry as such either, even though at this point they are, it wouldn't be kong until they found their natural level under a proper structure, the WHC is absolutely worthless now
If you had one belt you could easily have Cena, Orton, Punk, Miz, Sheamus and Del Rio with guys like Taker, HHH and Kane (as he is now) involved in main event programs
With an upper-midcard of Ziggler, Rhodes, Barrett, Christian, Bryan and others
Kane, Taker, HHH, Show and Henry haven't got long left or much more to give so you build your upper micard guys up slowly and coherently so they actually have some name value by the time they're ready to move up the card
The desperation to keep two World Titles relevent has saw guys pushed and given World Titles they simply don't merit just to keep things 'hot' and all that does is alienate them from the fans because the more knowledgable will look at it as undeserving and the more kayfabe based fan will not be as hooked or enticed as previous guys who they knew where the real deal
I don't buy for a minute that their is to much talent for one World Title, it's the opposite, there is barely enough for one serious division instead of two thread bares
If they aren't going to unify the two World Titles then I'd now look at repackaging the WHC as the 'Junior World Title' and in order to compete for the WWE title you must have to win that belt first, if you go two years without winning it you must compete for it again before you're once again eligible for the real World Title the WWE belt
