Tactics:
1) Adler stays in goal at all times and uses all 1.9m of his height to make scoring for the opposition difficult.
2) Howedes stays back to cover the goalkeeper and prevents Porto getting clean through on goal
3) If Juventus play 2 up front, Agger and Howedes mark a man each, if not, Howedes marks the striker and Agger attacks when we attack, defends when Porto attack and sweeps up any loose balls at the back.
4) Adam is the playmaker and supports Yilmaz when he goes forward. He also has shots from range.
5) Yilmaz remains forward at all times, taking on the defender(s) and allowing Charlie to get forward by keeping defenders busy.

1. Akinfeev stand your ground, get the ball moving early to those in good positions
2. Vidal break up play, sit just in front of Akinfeev. Get ball to forward 3.
3. Walcott/Gervinho use pace to get beyond markers or play neat one twos/triangles with Suarez to get in on goal
4. Suarez stay up top plenty movement to get free from marker
5. Shoot when possible, get into to spaces to be free on goal
6. Slow build up play then when ready hit with pace

Tactics:

1. van Bommel play as sweeper and keep the ball away from our goal. Make yourself big and stay back. Start our attacks. Spank it forward and look for giovinco and soldado up front.
2. Giovinco will feed Rossi and Holtby ahead of him. Use your quick feet and also shoot whenever possible. Keep close to their attacker when not having the ball.
3. Holtby and Rossi interchange positions often. get on the ball and use your quick feet and skills to trick em and shoot also.
4. Soldado stay up top all times and not drop deep at all. Shoot and get into the opposing players.
5. Pass quickly and move it around. We have some very fast and pacy players which will take on the malaga players. Shoot at sight.
6. For defending, all except soldado will come back and let them pass it in front of us. Dont give space to shoot. Spring on the offensive as soon as they lose possession.

1. Keita will be the Sweeper Keeper, he can enforce from the back and start attacks, and is pretty useful as a goalkeeper.

2. Kranjcar, Nene, Iturbe and Fred are in a 2-2 formation, but all four players are interchangeable in their positions. If Kranjcar and Nene overcommit, Iturbe and Fred are more than capable of switching positions and helping out with defending.

3. Don't give away possession. It's so much better to just keep the ball than look for a pass that isn't there. Keep moving when off the ball, keep their defence guessing.

4. Shoot when presented with the opportunity, all five players are capable of shooting accurately and powerfully.

5. Subs are Saviola for Fred and Adomah for Nene, fresher legs to continue the same tactics.

Slight change from previous tactics. Oxlade-Chamberlain comes in to start to take advantage of Schalke's lack of speed at the back. Huddlestone comes in to provide more muscle against Schalke's midfield.

1. Weise to command the area and look to Rodwell for starting attacks
2. Rodwell to stay back and defend and only to attack when there is a cut-back opportunity for him to shoot
3. Rodwell on hand for back passes to get the ball easily to the other wing.
4. Huddlestone when defending shall run after the ball and harrass which ever opponent has it.
5. Huddlestone to bully the slight midfield/attacker and knock them off the ball.
6. Ramirez and Oxlade-Chamberlain to use their dribbling skills to tire the Schalke backline out. Then more space will open up that can be exploited as we tire them out. All 3 front players should take any opportunity to shoot.

Subs half way through 2nd Half: Kleber FOR Ramirez. Kleber stays up top with Oxlade-Chamberlain with a free role just behind him, so he can run non-stop at tiring backline. Huddlestone to sit beside Rodwell in defence. Kleber should be on hand to convert rebounds from Oxlade-Chamberlain's shots.

• Keeper to be big in the goal, be on toes for quick shots and look to be quick in releasing the ball to team mates

• Control, pass and move, pass and move, keep your head up and look for your team mates.

• Know your positions, stay zonal to create more space and opportunities,play through the middle of the pitch where we dominate.

• Stay on your feet, no rush decisions, when Benfica have the ball keep in between them and the goal.

• Look for gaps and don't be afraid to shoot from a distance, be ready for the loose ball and use your superior strength to dominate

If winning: drop slightly further back and make the opposition work harder.
If losing half way through 2nd half: Take off Gerrard and Hulk, add Falcao and Eriksengouge these fresh legs and speed to go all out for the equalizer.

Mcgregor - its five a side goals and shot stopping is where you excel, be vocal let team know whats going in as you have best view on pitch

Diarra you sit, keep the attacker in front of you, dont let him turn and gets shots off

Hernanes and menez play one twos with each other to create space, and with Gamero to run past

Gamiero play furthest forward, look for the one twos, try to lay ball off for shots from midfielders

Shoot on sight, aim for bottom corners keepers cant reach here
