Everyone draws a test series in SA
Everyone draws a test series in SA....except BD
it's becoming par for the course....and can no longer be counted as a major achievement.
Now even the crown princes HTBs Lanka have won a test and will probably draw the series in SA.
India Drew a series in SA
Eng drew their series in SA
Aus drew their series in SA

Re: Everyone draws a test series in SA
Despite possessing a fine side, they've been a tad inconsistent of late, haven't they?
Don't get me wrong, Sri Lanka aside there are some fine sides that they've drawn with there, which is by no means a disgrace, but to be considered the best side in the world you do need to be winning such series at home most of the time.

^ you are missing the point....
and the point being that it's not really counting as much of an achievement NOW to beat SA in SA...
whihc leave this great english side one less diffrentiator to show

No, you're being very negative there, and having a needless dig at England, it would appear. My point is a valid one, yours not so much.

you are watering down a fact.......by trying to call it a needless dig.
when poor overseas travellers like ind, lanka start beating SA in SA.....then doesn't remain a trophy win to show off any more for anyone

Re: Everyone draws a test series in SA
Yeah they have been inconsistent at home, or rather disappointing.
what must though not be forgotten is the way they have structured their seasons the last few years.
CSa has in the last few years arranged fictures in such a manner where the Proteas would not play cricket for close on 10 calendar months and then face a team such as England, Australia and India.
In 2009 SA didn't play test cricket for nigh on 10 months before facing England at home, what has to be taken into account though is that dale Steyn didn't play the first test and struggled in the second, England just held on in two tests two draw the series.
This year before playing australia, SA once again didn't play test cricket for nearly 11 months of the year.
This will lead to inconsistency, especially in the batting department.
The other factor is the Kingsmead ground, for whatever reason it has been bad for us over the past number of years, why we keep playing there when it is obviously a bad ground for us I do not know.
It has become a gimme ground for visiting teams. In the past 3 years we have lost all four tests played there, Australia, India, England and now Sri Lanka have taken our scalp.
Let us not forget though that we have had away wins in Australia and england

I'd love the NZ cricket team to manage a drawn series in South Africa
Heck, I'd even take a 2-1 loss.

Re: Everyone draws a test series in SA
Lets not forget, to keep saying they have beaten SA at home is a bit misleading. Teams may have won the odd Test, but the series have been drawn. When a team wins a series in SA, that would be quite an achievement.

NZ drew a series 2-all in 1961/62, and we lost 2-1 in 1994/95 - but that tour was overshadowed by Fleming and Nash's dope smoking suspensions. Otherwise it's almost as sorry reading as the 26 years without a win in Aus - and winning a test against the Aussies isn't that hard at the moment.
NZ plays 2 tests, 3 ODIs and 2 T20 in SA in Dec 2012/Jan 2013, so we'll see what happens.

that SA is playing so many two test series shows test cricket is declining in their priorities.
and the beauty of these 2 test series is one freak collapse of the opponent and you win one test...and guaranteed you will not lose the series

I Have, my point is that the teams that have drawn in SA, see it as an achievement do they not ?
And to win a series there even more so.

Yes and SA has won in most of those major countries away. The fact is we travel better than most teams.

hang on mate...
Australia have won 26, lost 12 and drawn 9 Tests in SA overall
Since 1992... they've won 11 and lost 5.
Winning in SA is not easy I agree but you need to take a history lesson.

Yeah, Australia has had the wool over SA for much longer than that.

Re: Everyone draws a test series in SA
So the point of this is that neither England now nor India this time last year are anywhere near as dominate as the great Aus sides of the last decade?
Did we not know this already?
