He sells too much merch.....
That's why he won't turn heel.
I remember people saying this,I was countering it by saying he would sell probably more if he did. Fact is when Cena does turn,he will truly be the no.1 guy in pro wrestling
The more I think about it the more id rather him stay face. He will become a top,top heel and it will annoy me him constantly being annoying.
Anyone changed there minds?

It's a weak arguement in my opinion and always will be
If someone wants a wrestling T shirt they might choose Cena's because he is their favourite but if he wasn't then for me chances are that very same fan would still likely want a wrestling T shirt regardless, the type of fans who purchase Cena merch are the type who will want to buy WWE material regardless of who is on top, they would just flock to another goody goody face like Rey Mysterio or Randy Orton

With Punk, Orton and Mysterio all well over faces the kiddies still have a face who they can get there parents to waste all their cash on and actually with a Cena heel turn the teenagers and adults will still buy Punks merch if he keeps up his current run as well as them buying Cenas stuff as if done right they could see the same kind of impact Hogans turn had.
Everyone had some kind of nWo merch and it will be exactly the same with Cena, the only thing that held them back with the turn is that no one was big enough to be the main face but with HHH, Punk, Orton and Mysterio they now have a lot of well over faces to pick up the baton.

Well they got the 'Cena Sucks' T-shirts now, so if they was to turn Cena heel he would still make money off him.

The biggest worry for me if Cena turns heel is if it just gets turned upside down and all those that booed him before now cheer him and those that cheered him boo him. It might not be that way at the beginning but after a month or so I can see this happening.

But that's always going to be a problem with any big-time heel, not just Cena. Look at CM Punk's most recent heel run- there seemed to be 'CM Punk' chants every night. And Orton too, before he turned face a couple of years ago, he always seemed to get cheered anyway.

I think it's more of an issue with Cena because so much would be invested into his heel turn, that if that happens it would ruin it.

I think a Cena heel turn would work. It would just be difficult to see him turning back face as his character would need a massive overhaul.

The thing is everyone is comparing it to a Hulk Hogan style turn - if it happens. However I think it only really took off well was the fact that Hogan was part of a group. Cena on his own would be a good heel, don't get me wrong. But who says it won't end after WM? For it to be successful, it needs to be long term and sustained and i dont think that will happen with Cena on his own. That way a more successful face turn can happen, like when hogan faced the rock at WM a while back.

Re: He sells too much merch.....
It is now cool to boo Cena.
Before it was only wrestling fans that did it, not the superstar fans. This was largely due to the fact the wwe ignored the boos and tried to turn a blind eye to them. The boos were never acknowledged. Things have changed now. They are openly acknowledging the boos and even having segments about the whole issue on tv. They are even selling merchandise highlighting it. Because of this, the ''kids'' are now thinking is it actually cool to cheer cena?
Merchandise was an issue. It is not the prime reason why a cena heel turn could not have happened in the past but it is one of the reasons. The most important one being is that the WWE didn't have anyone to fill the gap. As people have already said, they now have Orton and others to fill it, as well as bringing in the dollars from sales.
It has got to the stage now where I would be more surprised if a heel turn didn't happen. There is a lot of evidence pointing to the fact that it will come sooner rather than later. The main problem is the WWE itself....are they willing to go all the way?
This could go three ways. The first way is the cena turn. That is the most logical way to go. Unfortunately this is the WWE, who doesn't always do logic. This brings reason number two....they drop the idea because of no having the balls to go all the way with it, or like they have dropped the anonymous raw general manager.
The third reason is the one I most dread. The rocky scenario. That against all odds, against all the backlash and hate, cena rises up and faces it all for those ''fans'' that love him. A true Hollywood style underdog finish for the rock match at mania.
If this happens not only will it be a massive missed oppotunity, it will probably turn off hundreds of fans that would have been led to believe that it was cool to boo him. Thus, those fans turn their backs on the WWE. Which means that WWE loses out in storyline potential, a new heel that they could use to lift the stale product the WWE is becoming AND they would lose out on merchandise sales.
A heel turn has to happen. The 'E stands to lose out more if they don't.

A big issue is that Cena himself really doesn't want to turn heel as it would mean he wouldn't be able to do all his charity work, at least not as much or as effectively.

I see what people mean about the merch issue, although I have heard that Punk recently overtook Cena in merchandise sales, although I'm not sure if that's actually the case. As for the issue of Cena's charity work, I don't see why he couldn't continue to do it, it's just a persona he'd be playing after all. Look at The Miz, he's a heel and seems to do lots of charity work and 'kid's stuff' (Nick teen choice awards etc.)
