Any Surrey supporters out there?
The beginnings of recovery last season from our several-years slump were built mainly round the revived career of Chris Tremlett. Looks like he might not be available much this season with international duties. I think our seam bowling should be reasonably OK with Dernbach having shown good form on the overseas tour, and Meaker starting to show some consistency. Chris Jordan might be back after a long lay-off. Our spin depart looks fairly weak. Batting likely to be explosive but somewhat erratic (eg RHB & newly signed Maynard), with the likely opening partnership of Brown and Lancefield, OK but by no means the strongest in the Div. Wilson has shown for Ireland that he can bat a bit and is a good understudy for Davies. Big question mark over Pieterson (fitness, appetite, England duties) Ramps (incredible performer, but injured and over 40). It could be that De Bruyn is the only experienced batsman we can field for much of the season.
I would be disappointed if we are not pushing for promotion in the CC Div 2 as well as actively contending in limited overs.

Just kidding, CHB.
Good luck with this new 606v2 Surrey cricket forum.
Your finances are as bad as ours.
Best wishes from a Gloucs supporter.

Angry!!
As always Corporal you are far to nice, forget being disappointed I will be livid if we are not at least pushing for promotion. We have had long enough now to sort out our problems.

Hi Depressed! Good to link up again with a kindred soul. Yes, you are right - this should be the season for delivery. Delete "disappointed" and insert "gutted"
Chris from Stroud Well there is at least one supporter out there. Anyway, good luck to Gloucs - except against Surrey; and let's hope Jon Batty is even more of a success this season than he was last (Is he still on your books?)

Re: Any Surrey supporters out there?
Unfortunately, yes, Jon Batty is still on our books! Many wish he weren't.
We got rid of 3 keepers (Steve Adshead, Steve Snell and Louis Gegg) who
many of us yokels think were as good, or better than, or more promising
than him.
But our coach likes his work ethic. Ho Hum.
Still, if he bats this year like he did last year he won't be taking part for very long in each match. Gloucester pitches are quite different from the Oval, and he didn't adjust.
See you in Division 1 next year.

Re: Any Surrey supporters out there?
Greetings corporal, I have high hopes for this season as I'm sure most do, I think our best chance of success is in the limited overs matches as we have a very good powerful batting line up. I think we'll struggle to take wickets in the CC again but maybe Meaker can step up in the anticipated absence of Tremlett.

Greetings too Carrotdude, good to hear from you. I agree with your assessment, tho' who know, Jordan might also deliver in the cc as well as Dernbach. Starting to look forward to start of the season.....

Hi Corporal,
I thought I might join you guys over here before our season of probable disappointment begins in earnest!
At least we have our own section to wallow in our sorrows and discuss the technicalities of Batty's "mystery ball".
But what am I saying? Maybe we will actually get promoted...
Look forward to some good discussion on here during the season.

Good to see we are starting to get a few of the 'old guard' over from 606

Re: Any Surrey supporters out there?
Following some encouragement from the Carrot, you are probably now stuck with me here for the season. I look forward to your comments and kindly abuse over the coming months - not enough banter on the other boards I've visited so far! Guess the Corporal is still smarting that his protege Dunn didn't make the squad for our first CC game - however, his time will surely come ....

Hi folks - not smarting or sulking etc, but been on leave for a week allowing the troops to run amok in the civilian population.
Looks like an in-and-out sort of performance so far today.....
