Who will win the 2012 royal rumble?

I can only see it being a smackdown star so I think that Wade Barrett will win this year.

barrett is a possibility, but has been pushed long enough (considering its his first propper one) to win it. final 4 though

orton of course is possible, but were still in the dark over what is going on with him

i also think dolph could win it. would be the second time he appears in 2 matches at rumbles, and of course he did that on a few occasions over the year. however, with the raw title already expected to be involved in a mania storyline, its unlikely a raw star will win.

kane wont, we know cena wont, punk wont be in it... i suppose we can just forget about raw superstars cant we.

it leaves either sheamus, barrett, orton or christian.

cody and henry can be mentioned too, but im doubting either will be considered

I have read on a few of the dirt sheets that Randy Orton is pencilled in to the win the Royal Rumble in his home town. However, with the injury that he has recently sustained they are currently at a cross roads where they will either change the winner to somebody else or have Orton to return and enter late in the Royal Rumble. This means that he can win but not have to do very much due to the type of match the Rumble is.

Personally, I hope Barrett wins it. He has been fantastic the last few months.

It will be a Smackdown guy winning the rumble, considering they are still contemplating having the title in the rock vs cena match it would mean it would be hard for a Raw guy to win the title.

Christian supposedly back feb time, Orton they would need to give a lightend schedule on the road to Mania, I think Barrett has a genuine chance of the rumble. They pushed Del Rio to a rumble win straight away, don't see why Barrett couldn't get it.

It would leave one of two things for Wrestlemania for him, have either Orton win the title at elimination chamber and have a last match where there is no rematch at the next PPV so it ends their fued at Wrestlemania. Or and i've said it for a while have Bryan retain at EC and face Barrett at WM. They will sell the PPV big time thanks to Rock/Cena, the likely Punk/Jericho, Undertaker Vs ......? amongst others, so I could see WWE try and claim NXT was a sucess by having two of the people on it competing in the main event of WM. It would also add alot of backstory to a WM main event.

I just really see Randy Orton winning it. I would like to see Wade Barret look good thought in the match him dominating then out comes number 30 and its Orton.

Randy Orton if he's not legit injured, otherwise I'd go for Shamoose.

If Orton is out for 6 months I've got a feeling that the World Heavyweight title match won't be a straight up one on one match.

What about Y2J winning the rumble and going for Punk's belt at Mania?

I personally think it's a likely scenario, but with them playing up an Orton injury I wouldn't be surprised to see him 'surprise' return and win it.

if Orton is out then Y2J or Ziggler

Did he injure himself or did barrett do it? And was he injured before ,during or after the match?

hopefully barrett ,would love orton to come back and not win , back in his hometown

Can see Barrett dominating the Rumble with Orton having a "surprise" return, eliminating Barrett to win the Rumble in his home town.

A few reports I've read is that the injury isn't as bad as first thought and that it's only Barrett who is claiming to have put Orton on the shelf for 6 months, not the WWE.

Why hasn't Y2J got his ownback on Orton, why is he targeting Punk?

My reading of the recent situation is that the Orton "injury" is for storyline purposes so that he can come back and triumphantly win the Rumble in his home town... Thieving an idea from Gaffer somewhat it would be great if it were for the title, he won and then carried it into Mania but maybe as it is his first year on SD they want him to chase it in and then get the glory at WM.

If Orton does then realistically the only logical choice for him to face would be Wade Barrett, they have history and SD lacks any other top heels bar Mark Henry (who I can't see still being pushed by then) and either someone turning or a replacement from Raw.

On the first count there aren't really any top level faces you could credibly turn and work with as they would have little momentum and I can't see them sending over someone like the Miz to SD unless they have Miz win the Rumble, announce he wants to teach Daniel Bryan a lesson (dating back to Nexus) and then DB loses the title to Randy or another at EC....

aggravasion of a previous/current back injury i think, causing weakness to his back i think

we never saw him fall due to the way the cameraman delayed his movements, so i was under the impression that the injury was just for show, so he could "suprise" us with a return at the rumble and win. If Orton does win the rumble, his opponent should definately be either Barret or Christian holding the title.

Definitely was scripted, the question I have is whether there was an underlying injury that required time off TV or if it was all made up to make a Rumble return all the better

yeah thats a good point to be honest, rumble return for him in his home town is still best bet for me. Even if he does have a problem, I'm sure not much damage would be done having him come back as number 30 and winning, although that is quite predictable.

If Orton is injured, than Jericho setting up his feud with Punk.

Surprised he didn't blame barrett being though majority of the fans are enjoying barretts work atm.

It's a work but I hope he doesn't win the rumble. Especially if he's afe fit,that would make the other competitors look weak.

Why does everyone expect an SD guy to win it baring in mind anyone can go after the WHC

I'll go for the outstanding candidate and pick The Miz to win it, unless the WWE Title somehow becomes vacant between now ans the actual Rumble match

I go for Jericho to face punk at mania for the wwe champ and best in the world

The reason I think Miz will win it and go after the WHC is for a few reasons, he is probably the top heel in the WWE and should be in a high profile WrestleMania match

RAW will be a bit bloated with a lot of heavy Rock/Cena and Punk/Jericho stroyline progression as well as the possibility of another HHH/Undertaker match which again you'd expect to be mainly played out on RAW, SmackDown is going to need some major imput and that's why for me Miz will be used in that role

The reason I have for Jericho are as I said in the other thread.

He might not win the rumble as its ortons home town but it's the way I'd book it now after watching last night. Don't show up until rumble win it then declare war on punk. Having that belt means your best in the world according to wwe and it also keeps punk face with classic Jericho heel going into mania.

Has Jericho ever won it before?

Hopefully Kane or Wade Barrett.

I can see the Miz winning it, but it depends on how long they keep this fued with R-Truth going.

I would be happy with Randy winning......other than him it would have to be Dolph, Miz, Cody, Wade or Sheamus (not in that order)
