The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Steve Shingler, Tim Visser and Sean Maitland above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Yes, Ulster are making progress. One could say about time too. Since winning the HEC Ulster have been on an interesting journey seemingly able to produce many good individuals but somehow not able to meld them together into an effective team.
This is the opposite to those teams where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

adpot!
Oooo I might have to Kia.
Was supposed to go on a mini road trip to a safari park last year to see some but 2011 ran out of time. Hoping to go to one before april. Oh how I love penguins so.
Game at Y Parc this evening was absolutely rubbish, seriously crap. No other word for it.
Glasgow defended brilliantly, but they suffered key injuries (Jackson went off injured in the first 10 mins ) and they were down to 13 men at one point and we barely managed to capitalise.
Our back play is non existant, it's hugely worrying. We play like this next week and Saints are going to destroy us. No question.
And Priestland was pants today. I agree with Glas on that much. I just don't agree that he is pants all the time! Consistency is still hugely missing.
And evening all, hope you've all had wonderful days

Certainly would not disagree, beautiful Kia . Feel were were held back by a succession of poor Ireland coaches who couldn't recognise quality when it was presented to them, therefore creating a them and us situation.

Hi Ozzy,
Did you catch the Highlights of the "...under-performing, overpaid - shoite " Ulster match?
Worth a watch despite what some on here say.
What was that term Kia used??
Jackeen was it??
By the way, the wee fella's team ran in 7 tries against a certain other province's cream earlier!
To nil!
In Dublin!

Anyway, the late, great, Big Bill Mclaren, said it and he's seen the very best.
"Gibson, the greatest all round player of the lot.
Im changing my name to BOD when he retires.
Imagine those two, in their prime, at centre for Ireland?
Sheesh.

I was just about to post that link Penfro.
I was at the first match in that clip. We were sharing a bottle of whiskey - a quick slug when ever Ireland scored. We only had enough for one more slug in the second half. Best game I was ever at - well one of the best.
But, for the life of me I cannot imagine who you might think is the best player of Michael Campbell Henderson Gibson is only second best. You need to adjust your spectacles, Penfro.

Ah no, hope your little girl feels better soon.
And I'm really good ta, had a lovely day. Went to Cowbridge with one of my bestmates earlier and just got asked to be bridesmaid at her wedding (although it's not for two years!). Have just realised I'm going to be involved in all of the dress shopping though (I hate shopping!). Still, feel really happy to be asked, so I've had a wonderful day.
Life is good with me. Have decided to be more proactive and take all my chances as they come (well, within reason anyways!). Am fed up of having plans and then never acting on them!

There are some wild ones near me dreamer... fairy (or little) penguins.
They swim up from Antarctica and nest in the rocks near Manly. A lot of work has gone into trying to conserve their habitat and protect them frolm foxes, dogs and cats. There is a sniper as well as Agent K9 - an english spaniel which has been trained to sniff out locations and then sit obediently. Special boxes have been located in certain areas... but the penguins like setting up their nest under people's houses.

A job in conservation perhaps?

Definitely our toughest. I know we lost both to Munster but we were our own downfall in them, Munster were good but I don't think they were hugely better then us (hence the close scorelines). Munster are always so, so tough to play against, but I never thought they were going to absolutely play us off the park.
Saints on the other hand have come into some really good form and if both sides play as they have been recently then Scarlets will be in for a beating. That is how poor we were today. And I believe Saitns' pack are better than Munsters. Definitely our toughest game. (although obviously my opinion has changed slightly then before the first Scarlets v Munster match, and our standing in our group, but then I guess it would )

I would LOVE to work in conservation, Breaker. Love it. Working with animals or the environment would be my dream (or anything to do with sport I guess!). Just need to get some volunteering under my belt first, but my weekends are so busy, it's so hard to find the time

Aye Gibbo, just hope I'm brave enough to stick to it. I'm not always, I chicken out of so much. I just had such a Poopie October, November and half of December I got really fed up with myself. The only person standing in my way is me, and it shouldn't be like that.
Got my work course end of January, trip to Ireland start of Feb, and got plans in the pipeline for end of Feb too. 2012 is a year for taking my opportunities if I feel I can.

Aye it is a bit Kia. Our backs just aren't working, it's so unlike us. And you know Saints just have one word on their mind: REVENGE
Tough game. Our toughest so far of the HEC I think.
Im not a Munster fan but... toughest? Ye lost both.
(although obviously my opinion has changed slightly then before the first Scarlets v Munster match, and our standing in our group, but then I guess it would )
I capiche. Hope ye/we win.Im just a huge fan. See that Glas? He's a born-again, 2nd-divison Ulstermon. See me? I'm a full on LeinsterScarletssexshyrugbyfan.com member.
All the rest, besides Toulouse, Clontorf, Quins & ASM - is dirge.
Hope that doesnt cause a problem for any other fans we know on here.

Do it Dreamer! At the risk of sounding like an old fart it really does get more difficult the older you get. You have time on your side so make the most of it before it starts to fly by.
And now I'm going to get my pipe and slippers...
And Rava is right, we'll all help any regs who need it. Just look back at earlier today and see the support I've received for my planned new venture
