Neil Warnock sacked as QPR boss
Neil Warnock has been sacked as Queens Park Rangers boss.
The 63-year-old was under mounting pressure to halt the decline at Loftus Road as fears grow over being sucked into the relegation dogfight.
QPR sit just one point above the drop zone after taking just 17 points from their opening 20 Barclays Premier League matches. They have lost six and drawn two of their last eight league matches.
Not too sure about this. On the one hand it shows that QPR owners are willing to make the big decisions to keep them in the Premier League, but I'm not sure if Warnock was their problem. Ironically I think their problem is stability, a lot of new players in the summer means that the core that won them the Championship isn't there.
Names I can see taking over are Gordon Strachan, Alan Curbishley and perhaps a long shot, but QPR do have a bit of money: Mark Hughes.

Zola is apparently the shock favourite.

He was doing an alright job. I don't think he deserved to be sacked.

I can't say I'm surprised. With money comes expectations and with there squad QPR shouldn't be 17th right now. They need to get a manager in sharpish though so he can make his own signings and maybe save them/

Warnock is nowhere near good enough for the Premiership, he's the eccentric fool of the Championship, that's his level
Hughes seems to be the odds on favourite, I just thought that he might take Wales over for the qualifying group after what happened with Gary Speed
I'd like to see a young English manager get a chance

I completely agree with you there. I was bored to death with his constant abuse of referees and opposition players. His interview about Van Persie the other week was beyond ridiculous. I swear he watches different matches to everyone else.

Re: Neil Warnock sacked as QPR boss
Disappointed for Warnock as the amount of hard work he's put into a career dedicated to football deserved another shot in the Premiership and to see out the season would have been a just reward for gaining promotion last season. That being said should a club stick with a manger who's only achieved 17 points from 20 games? maybe not. I dont think he spent wisely in the summer and the purchases of anton ferdinand and armand toure stunk of desperation although i realise that time was against them once the funds were made available by the new owners, therefore there was no time for well scouted options.
If QPR was to make a managerial change then this week was the right time, a new manager can come in and spend the new money on players he wants.
Hughes would be my pick.

Irony is that, if Warnock hadn't got QPR promoted, he'd probably still be their manager.
Anyone seen any Joey Barton tweets?

End of the day he took united down and blamed on tevez. Qpr feared they was going the same way. Not surprised at all.
Put some money on warnock next Leeds manager. Bates wants promotion, warnock will deliver.
Sven or Hughes for the qpr job.

Sven's a loser. Why would they want him? Perhaps he'll sign Beckham and his boys??
Seems Hughes is in the driver's seat but he'll be off like the proverbial dirty shirt if/when they get relegated. Chaos. Shambles. You name it.
More money than sense some/most of these people.

They won't touch Sven.
Wouldn't bank on Hughes, remember the Villa job?

Hughes will accept it for sure if offered. He hasn't had a pay cheque for a while.

As a Palace fan I did enjoy this a bit as he left us for a more "secure" job. Had Warnock left us at the end of the season I am sure most Palace fans wouldn't bear a grudge with him.
I always maintained he is no more than a brilliant man motivator...some of his tactics of route one football and hoofing it up to a lump up front left a lot to be desired. I think in the Prem motivating players will only get you so far a la Zola, Dowie etc.

What has Hughes really done to continually get decent jobs in the premier league? mediocre record at best at all the clubs he's managed. They should have given Warnock longer.
