Club combinations?
I've been mucking around on this the last couple of seasons, with wedges in particular flying in and out of the bag. Still not convinced I've got it yet, so would be interested to hear what club combos you're carrying right now. Forget brands, just give me the clubs types and degrees, though would be interested to hear about particular shafts and how they are supposed to impact on your ball flight. Not really up on that side of it personally so feel free to educate me - here are my club types only:
Driver: 9*
3-Wood:15.5*
Hybrid: 17*
3iron - 9iron: 20-44*
48* wedge (6* bounce)
52* wedge (8* bounce)
56* wedge (11* bounce)
I also have a 60* wedge with 7* bounce which was driven out of the bag by the arrival of the 3-wood. It has only made one appearance since and was no use whatsoever!!

Re: Club combinations?
FWIW:
Driver: 10.5°, Diamana Blueboard (exceptional shaft IMO)
Hybrid: 16°, VooDoo (lovely shaft as well)
3i-PW: 21°-48°
GW: 52°, 8° bounce
SW: 56°, 10° bounce
LW: 60°, ~6° bounce
Pretty standard. Haven't got a 3W at the moment as the Adams hybrid I have goes plenty far and, scoring-wise, I'm finding the 60° more valuable.
A word on the two shafts I've listed. The Blueboard is exceptional (I have the 63 g35t in a stiff); launches mid/high (at least it does in my Ping Rapture V2 driver), flattens out and feels excellent. The VooDoo I have is the SNV8S; feels beautifully smooth, mid-launch(ish) for me.

Re: Club combinations?
I found there was just too big a gap between driver and hybrid last season. There are a few holes at Duddingston where I was playing for position with the hybrid, but leaving myself a long second shot in. It was definitely less of an issue on the odd calm day, but into the wind i find it quite difficult to get a really good low penetrating shot with the hybrid. The 3 wood has been much better for that, but next season will be the real test.
At the other end of the bag I was finding myself trying to get comfortable with my short game with too many options. The 60* came out, as the 56* is lovely out of the sand. It will be interesting to see how much I miss it next season, once the proper stuff starts again.

Re: Club combinations?
Bam
I don’t tend to carry the full 14 clubs but usually go with this
10.5 driver prelaunch red (Stiff)
3-PW (regular)
SW (56, 8 bounce)
Putter
I also have these when I feel the need
3W 15 degree prelaunch blue (regular)
3W 15 degree steel shaft (not used for about 2 years)
3W 13 degree (not used in about 3 years)
18 degree hybrid
21 degree hybrid
52 gap we
60 degree wedge (cant remember the bounce)
If I play an away course or feel like going for the par fives I usually chuck in the 18 degree hybrid.

Re: Club combinations?
As I never seem to get rid of my old clubs my selection varies on the weather, course condition, and course. I have just changed my irons so at the moment what definitely goes in my bag are:-
10.5* driver
5-PW 26"-46*
52* wedge 8*bounce
58* wedge 8*bounce
I have taken out my 55*10*bounce SW as the the bunkers have been hard packed due to all the rain and I can get the ball out better with the 52 .
I swap around the following depending on weather
3-4 iron 20* & 23*
18* & 21* Hybrid
13* & 16* Woods
10.5* driver
5-PW 26"-46*

58* wedge 8*bounce

Re: Club combinations?
ban-
Currently
Driver 10.5*
4 wood 17*
2 iron 18* (not much difference here in loft between these two however it gives me 2 very different shot types - 4 wood hit almost as far as my 3 wood 15.5* but with a bit more control off the tee and able to generate a higher ball flight off the fairway, 2 iron then isgreat playing into the wind when i want to hit a low punch below the wind)
4 iron 24* - P 47*
52* 56* 60* wedges
Don't really mind the gap between 2 and 4 iron, if playing long iron for position off the tee happy to hit the 4 sacrifice a bit of distance and hit one more for the 2nd
However I also have a 15.5* 3 wood and 18* hybrid. Depending on course and conditions I may swap these in for the 4 wood and 2 iron. So i guess you're not the only one who is not totally convinced of the right combo!!

Re: Club combinations?
Whatever combination of clubs I carry, I always seem to have a gap somewhere.
Essentially the clubs that alternate in my bag, depending on conditions and where I'm playing are the 3 wood, and 50 degree wedge.
If I carry the 3 wood then I can pretty much cover all distances up to 230 yards at the upper end, but I have a gap at about 80 yards that requires me to hit a ¾ wedge shot.
If I take the extra wedge then I can fill that gap, but I have another gap between my driver, which goes about 260 yards, and my 5 wood which goes about 220.
I've given up trying to work out how to cover it really.

Re: Club combinations?
In my bag ...
Driver Taylormade R7 Superquad 10.5
Ping G10 Hybrid 18 deg
Ping G10 Hybrid 21 deg
Ping G10 Hybrid 24 deg
Ping G10 Irons 5-PW
Ping Tour Wedges 50,54 & 58 deg
All in stiff shafts
Oddyssey XG putter (cut & balanced to 30" and mid size grip)
In my spare (backup) bag I also have
Ping G10 3 wood
Ping G10 Hybrid 15 deg
Ping G5 irons 3-pw
Ping Tour Wedges 52,56
The most common switch I make is swapping the 15 deg for the 24 deg if it's going to be really windy

Re: Club combinations?
Way too many clubs.
Just use a pencil bag over the winter.
TM r9 3 wood
TM 4,6,8,W, SW
TM Rossa Putter
And still well up in the eclectic league..
