Exciting young scotland talent!
First topic message reminder :
For years Scotland has struggled to find exciting Scottish backs who know their way to the tryline. Things appear to be on the up though with some exciting young players coming through and looking like they could go all the way. 10 and 12 have been the problem position for many years since the 99 winning team but even in those positions there are many talented players.
some of the future talent coming through are
9s
Ross samson (london irish)
murray mcconnell (glasgow)
Alex Black (Edinburgh)
Grayson Hart( ex auckland blues now waratahs back up squad)
10s
Duncan weir(glasgow)
Harry Leonard(edinburgh)can play 12
Gregor hunter(edinburgh)
Sam hidalgo clyne(scotland 7s) can play 12
Lee Miller (Gala)can play 12
Alex Blair(was with edinburgh until injury)
12s
Matt Scott(edinburgh)
Robbie Ferguson (ayr)
James Murray(Begles academy)
Tommy Allan(Western Province)
13s
Mark Bennett (clermont)
James Johnstone(Glasgow Academy)
Wings
Tim Visser(Edinburgh)
Dougie Fife(currie and scotland 7s)
Kerr Gossman( Scotland 7s)
James Fleming(scotland 7s)
Lee Jones( Edinburgh)
James Farndale( Edinburgh academy)
Rory Hughes(Glasgow Academy)
Peter Stewart(Nudgee college and queensland schools)
Full Backs
Stuart Hogg(glasgow)
Tom Brown(edinburgh)
Fraser Thompson(melrose)
Stephen McColl(Leeds)
Now Scotland has some good young backs on their way up what players are Scotland fans excited to see
come through and what other Scottish talent is there that we might not be aware off?

One for laurie and Boomer: just spotted an odd one in Scotland's U20 squad - Peter Stewart (Nudgee College Schoolboys) - anything you can tell us about him?

Just trying to think of what we really need coming through from this age group.
My wish list:
1. A decent hooker.
2. A powerful lock.
3. A skillful operator at 12 (as always).
4. Some real pace on the wing.

I think we do have all those coming through from the young group. Fergus Scott who has just been selected for the u20s has been
playing really well and looks good in the set piece and is mobile about the park.
We've got a few young locks coming through, Jonny Gray who is Richie's younger brother is extremely powerful already, think he is
slightly shorter than Richie but is stronger built, there is also nick campbell at glasgow who is very powerful.
The skillful operator at 12 we have a good few options, matt scott the obvious one and then robbie ferguson who has been playing 12 and 10
for ayr and looks really good. Not sure what his best position will be long term as not seem him play too often.
The wings look promising too, James Farndale is getting talked up really highly by the guys at Edinburgh and the same with Rory Hughes at glasgow.

Not much sorry As. I had a look around GAGR as some of the posters there follow the Schools closely. He was mentioned as being selected for GPS this year on the wing. GPS are a rep team that play at the Qld state carnival from which they select Qld 1 and 2 to play the nationals. Unfortunately there was no mention of him in the Qld squads, but there are quite a few current S15 players that didn't make higher honors at that age.

With Robinson as coach they will never get picked a good forward coach but very conservative when picking backs
