Tennis Player - Cryptic Clue Thread
First topic message reminder :
Let's see how this pans out.
First person to get the confirmed correct answer gets to post the next clue. No need to give the number of characters in the name, but the clue must be for the first and last name (although variants of first name are allowed e.g. Andy or Andrew)
1. Delivered without Jay, a robot, without Cy.

Well done - the 'dick' being a private eye - Philip Marlowe, hence 'soup is' mixed up inside "Philips".

Re: Tennis Player - Cryptic Clue Thread
Can I suggest for us crossword-challenged to provide a bit of an explanation?
Saint is faulty = Saint Nick?
PS: I keep wanting to say Santiago Giraldo.

Re: Tennis Player - Cryptic Clue Thread
If the word 'out' or 'mixed up' or 'scrambled' etc is in the clue, it usually means there's an anagram close by (usually the nearby word or words).
