It will be a very even contest I feel. SA need to bury their ghosts there but England have been on a high... for what... at least a year now?

I tihnk the ENG vs SA series will be very competitive.
The 1998 series was brilliant, Donald at his best, with that guy Atherton.
2003 was good but doesn't stick out from memory.
And then of course there was the 2008 series. I seem to remember Ntini taking ten wickets at Lords?
Graeme smith and his men will be looking forward to going there, and we will have a stronger bowling attack this time round.

I can't believe this is the same pitch which India batted on. Australia, especially Warner is off to a flyer. On comes Ishant.

Haven't seen too much of him tbh, billy. Apparently, he talked himself up before his selection and has even written a book about himself.

Many a side have 'let' them, sbw. I admit this is not a great attack though.

Now if this is not rubbing salt into the wounds of India, I don't know what is.
They will probably like to go home to mommy now.

How many times in history did a batsman from the team batting second get a century on day one after the other team has been bolwed out?

Not sure Biltong. Quite a few players have scored centuries in one session though.

Re: Australia v India: 3rd Test, Perth
I see Australia took a bit of a breather in the 16th over. Probably discussed the fact that they needed to regroup after that first onslaught.
Cowan to warner " Hey mate, think we need to regroup."
Warner to cowan" Tell you what mate, you take a breather if things are getting to hectic out here."
Cowan to Warner " Geez, relax mate, I only meant for an over or two"
Warner to Cowan " Well, I am on a roll, no way I am taking a break from this poor bowling, I take a break when the Saffers come later in the year."

Re: Australia v India: 3rd Test, Perth
It is horrible to see, because the team clearly is packed with talent. It goes back to the mental side of things that I mentioned the other day, they're mentally shot to pieces and would lose to just about anyone half decent at the moment.
Re: Australia v India: 3rd Test, Perth

Fastest Test century for an opener. Much better to watch than Sehwag too.

Cowan to Warner " good ton mate, well done"
Warner to Cowan " you see mate, you hit the rubbish, I got my ton, and you're still in the thirties. Get a move on, I am playing golf on Sunday."

The thing about Warner is he is also a brilliant fielder. The speed he moves across the field is something to behold - like a pitbull chasing a cat. At the SCG last week he never gave up and almost impaled himself on the fence.

Re: Australia v India: 3rd Test, Perth
Its unbelievable that the Aussies will lead the Indians on day 1 of a test match having bowled them out..... Thats not something i thought that i would ever say given the depth of this Indian batting lineup.
This is and England (ish) type thrashing of India (had to get that in their breaker, you understand LOL)

Re: Australia v India: 3rd Test, Perth
These bowlers should never play Test cricket again. It is a pitch with great pace and bounce and they're just utterly clueless as to what to do or how to even attempt to get wickets.
Imagine someone like Morkel or Tremlett on this pitch, they'd have a crude slugger like Warner out of there in moments! Fantastic innings though, he has seized on the downbeat Indians and absolutely hammered them in emphatic fashion - he should already be thinking of a double ton, given the lack of threat.

Re: Australia v India: 3rd Test, Perth
I would'nt describe Warner as a 'crude slugger' Fists. He is a fantastic stroke player and a great timer of the ball.

ha Billy.
It may even surpass that the way things have gone recently.
I must admit I wasn't expecting this to happen today. I thought they would lose a few wickets but as you've said above - India are not in this contest at all.

Re: Australia v India: 3rd Test, Perth
He is very loose in a lot of his shots, billy, and against quality bowling I would expect him to fail 6 or 7 times out of 10. Especially if there was lateral movement, he is very much in the Sehwag mould but with better foot movement (which would mean he may be slightly better against swing than Virender).
Re: Australia v India: 3rd Test, Perth
India are utterly gone. I have never seen a team totally killed in one session's play like the Aussies and England have done to India recently.

Yeah, he's no crude slugger. Powerful but with a good technique. Moves his feet better than Sehwag but definitely a modern style batsman compared to a Gooch or Greenidge.

So 149/0 at stumps... 12 runs behind India's total of 161. What a day's play!

I think that he is a lovely timer of the ball Fists. He can be loose but he also shows a great deal of control. All he has done today is pick the bad balls and put them away. Unfortunately for Inida 90% of their balls have been bad.

Its only their 5th in 44 test innings since 2009, that India have let them do it twice in this series (currently their second and third highest opening partnerships in over 2 years) suggests they arent exactly using the new ball as well as some other teams do.

Re: Australia v India: 3rd Test, Perth
We're well on top in this series PSW but it's nothing new at all for an Australian side to be 100/0 against better bowling (than India's today) throughout history. It's been done before many, many times. What's special was the speed of this start. That was pretty phenomenal I'm sure you'd agree.
