The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Nigel Walker, Stephen Ferris, and Planet Rugby's team of the round above the bar!

On the subject of the HC QFs, I see that these will be held over the Easter weekend. Is Dublin still 'dry' over Easter? Please say it is not so.

Good luck Kia
Given that it is tough winning away from home in the Heineken Cup, if all of this weeks games are won by the home team, without any of them getting a TBP, and the away teams all get an LBP, the quarter finals will look like this...
Leinster vs. Ulster
Munster vs. Edinburgh
Cardiff Blues vs. Saracens
ASM Clermont Auvergne vs. Toulouse
... and yes, I am bored!!!

Just on good Friday Puma... (if you are refering to the consumption of alcohol)
I can't see them doing the same as they did in Limerick that time though if it did fall on the Friday

Ireland doesn't sell booze on Good Friday.
Puma, regarding tickets I will keep my ear to the ground for you. Tickets are always available. . . . .however it usually involves the use of a third party and sale above face value.

Micky - don't forget HEC is in Dublin next year. Saves you cash.
By those recognitions then it could be Ulsters year....
Yeh exactly Stag that excites me. would be great to host a big meet up over here if people where up for it.
I should be have a house by then so would be happy to repay all the kind favours.

Darren Cave out for maybe 6 weeks.
Such bad luck for the lad.
I think that was the only thing that should have kept him out of the 6 Nations squad.

That good Friday thing really annoys me. The argument of "ah one day won't kill ya" doesn't hold water with me. Why not have it on the spring equinox or on Halloween if that's the attitude.

Munster are tight with the Almighty.
Its the only logical explanation to their amazing knack of escapology.

Asbo,
I said should, not would.
That lad has just been so unfortunate with injuries at the wrong time. I know there probably isn't a right time but there definately is a very wrong time!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
The Pope got lost in West Wales. His bodyguards found a barn for the chauffeur to consult the atlas on account of there being no GPS signal for the papal Tom Tom, all to no avail. Then the Pope decided there was only one thing for it, he would have to consult with God. The holy water and incense burners were brought to him and just when he was about to start the ritual the Farmer entered the barn. "What are you doing with that blydi burner in my barn". The Pope decided to come clean. "oh, in that case you'd better come into the house". In the house the farmer said, "I'll put a call through for you now" picking up the phone. The Pope was amazed and said "you can phone the Almighty!" "Listen Good-boy, in Carmarthenshire Heaven is a local call".

But you're a kicking full back usually, no?
Anyway, doing anything all the time is too easy to defend.
Mix it up (a bit) and keep the defence honest!

Refereeing has taken the hit to be honest. I'm refereeing about 50% less matches this year but I have a job I love, spend lots of time travelling, am studying literature and history for a second degree and then French for a few hours once a week.
Its busy but so far so good. The summer will be a very quiet time for me which I can't wait for. I have lots of holiday time accrued, no university, no French lessons and the time is my own.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Sounds like you're in a good place to be then Stag
How're you finding the course then anyways?
Ooo wow, just stumbled onto a Friends episode I've either never seen before/don't remember. Love it when that happens.

Ahaa! He has ze Deutch, and iz zeer gut mit de English. Now, the ref is going for French also.
In your job also, it will be priceless. Really.
That's 160 million non- English punters you can talk to.
Ca-ching!
It was mentioned by the IRB too last week. Refs are being encouraged to speak French at a decent and coherent - rugby level.
No flies on you Staggy.

Yea its all going well at the minute Dreamer. Im on top of assignments but behind on study. But overall course and life in general is going well. Wish that herself had job she was happy with though she's pretty down about it all which isn't nice.

I have always though Spanish would be the more valuable language for Irish kids to learn. Most learn French/German or both. Spanish is spoen by a ridiculous amount of people. (Just as an example there is more Spanish spoken in Miami then English) One of the most interesting languages in der Welt.

Sorry but that has just reminded me of Poite telling someone to mind their "show der" on Friday night.
Cue 6 bemused front rowers!
Then someone said,
"Ah! SHOULDER?" and git him to repeat it correctly.
Almost as hilarious as when he suggested that Geordan Murphy was enjoying the match.

Yea its awful. Still though she's coming over to Paris for one of the 6 Nations matches and she's got a few things coming up that she's looking forward to. She's doing some courses in things that interest her too but it upsets her that even at the end of it, it won't amount to anything due to lack of jobs opportunities.

Very true T. Its huge and is growing exponentially, via South America and up through the States.
Kin inny-one spik Saffa like? Oh yeah, Ulster and Sarries must be fluent in it by now.
Mandarin is the way to go. 1.5 Billion.
I worked with a fellow SysProg down Souff Holland. Cork lad. He was studying Mandarin back then (15 years ago). We all thought it was a wee bit weird and funky.
Ermmm. It wasnt. Last heard, de bollix is running projects in Beijing now. Writes his own pay-cheques.

Thomond/Gibbo
For a period Spanish was comfortably ahead of German and even French in Irish schools.
During the 1980s and 1990s German was the most popular language - seen by most as the language of "industry". French was the second choice. Then French really emerged as the big one. Spanish was a Celtic Tiger phenomeon - people were off to Malaga and Tenerife 5 times a year to their holiday homes Spanish was handy. Now Im noticing more and more parents wanting their kids to do German with the economy doing well there.
Irish people get funny about it all. I give German grinds and I asked the boys mother why she picked German making small talk. She said she was going to have him do Spanish but that "mexicans and them in the rainforrest are no use to him, they all speak English in the Spanish resorts"

That's good that she's got things to look forward to though, and that she's doing courses (sounds weirdly like what I'm doing!). And you never know with job opporunities, sometimes they just come out of nowhere, just need to keep your eyes open for them.
Righty, I'm off, trying to stop using my laptop so much. Have lovely evenings all.

I work on a simple premise of:
Morning - when the sun rises until when I get to work.
Day - until it begins to get dark
Evening - when it is getting dark at dusk
Night - when its dark.
