First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Nigel Walker, Stephen Ferris, and Planet Rugby's team of the round above the bar!

I like the rolled down socks thing myself. I dare say himself and Earls would have been welcomed in Scarlets.
Here is 16 year old Zebo playing for his school in Munster Cup - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_nyYHCZ99w&feature=related
And 16 year old Earls doing the same - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oCOLYezvqc
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
We'd make a player out of Earles as we made a player out of Lamont. Zebo would have the chances he needs to fulfil his potential and all. We really need a playmaking centre, Davies and Williams together is not the answer.

Backline coach and a good playmaking centre. Course an experienced enough player can have good input on the coaching side of things too as shown by Botha, Elsom, Pienaar etc.

Listen Glas, he IS yeah. But very soon, he will be taken away and neutered. Far too much of an individual that one. And Earls and Murray and Howlett and Jones and..
We need to kick-on before Munster get too sexy. Its changing at Munster. I can see it. They are just caught twixt & between at the minute - in style alone. Like Ireland? Hmmmm? Nah, dont say it Gibbo.
But it IS changing.
The Scarlets of Thomond are coming.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Better get to sleep Rava. Irelands squad for the Six Nations is announced tomorrow- gonna be a big day of mud slinging.
Except, wait. The squad for the Saxons will be announced at the same time. The other squad is just a training squad. So we're still in the dark because I guarantee that there will be a few call-ups to the senior squad after the Saxons game (unless we are annihilated).
It's going to be a 22-man squad for the Saxons game and then a 30-man squad for a training camp ahead of the 6N. So 52 players named and we won't know who has and hasn't made the cut until February. Standard Kidney; he's never, ever shown a card he doesn't have to.

Notch, you are quite right about Kidney. Nothing will be revealed today. I predict the only absentees will be the injured. None of the old brigade will be jettisoned at this stage.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
It’ll prob be eaten up by all the squad posts outside so I’ll put it in here,
If Ireland were playing this weekend here’s the team I’d go for:
Healy – Best – Ross
POC – Ryan
O’Brien – Heaslip – Ferris
Murray – Sexton
Trimble – McFadden – Earls (would have been Cave) – Fitz
Kearney
Cronin – Court – Toner – O’Mahoney – Reddan – ROG – Bowe

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Asbo, the Earls debate ended a while ago. Manu Tuilagi and Toby Flood were absent so Darren Cave's performance is rendered null and void. The simple fact is that Ulster have floundered with him in the team (he has never got out of HEC before). Last year they needed Spence to be their spark at 13 and it was all Spence this and Spence that.
People are as you say talking up Cave now as they are being diplomatic and know he can't play.

How do you promounce this name (need to call him) Gwydion - is it as it looks (ie gwid- ion) or is it something like Rhydian?

Miss yer face.
He's doing very well. Rugby wise, joining Seapoint has been fantastic for him as he is with a real club now that actually seems to care about the players and it is showing in his play.
Me, well everything is completely up in the air. There have been some pretty horrible moments in the past couple of weeks but so many amazing things are happening that I'm not exactly sure what I'm feeling half the time, though last night I think I got a clearer view on everything.

Rava if you don't believe me ask Sin E. He has stats that I'm told will prove beyond all doubt that every match won by any Irish team is attributable to Munster.

Morning all from dismal grey old London towne.
First game of netball in 6 weeks last night, and we were on fire for the 1st 3 quarters (our shooter's jet-lag kicked in at the end, she got married in Australia last weekend and flew back in on Sunday). We won 23-16, after leading 22-9 at 3/4 time, and we were playing a team who've beaten us the last 2 times out

Touhy, Toner and Ryan are all playing out of their skin, it’s a tight call between them all. Toner would offer something different to Touhy and Ryan though, less of a ball carrier, more solid at the lineout and gives a Hines-esque offloading option. I’ve picked him on the bench because he would offer something different, not because he’s better

Eh, no. I’ve just explained why I would pick Toner and Ryan.
Last week Stag picked Toner in his starting team, I’m not the only one who’s noticed that he’s playing well. it has nothing to do with who he plays for.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I'm more than happy with Ryan, O'Connell to start and Toner on the bench.
We've seen Donnacha Ryan and Devin Toner deliver man of the match performances in the HEC this season.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I'd have Toner ahead of Tuohy too although its a tight call. Toner has been sensational this season, although Tuohy is in great form too. Both offer something different.
Ryan had the game of his life on Saturday so should start. I have a sinking feeling that DOC will get a spot on the bench ahead of either Toner or Tuohy.
To be honest we have more depth at 2nd row than in the back row at the minute!

I suspect that Munster will play
04 O'Callaghan
05 O'Connell
06 Ryan
07 O'Mahony
08 Coughlan
I agree Rodders that unfort. DoCallaghan could sneak into the squad. He isnt first choice for Munster he shouldn't be there when there are other top class options available.

That’s still a good bunch of loose forwards Stag. who would be the replacements? Micko and?
And who’s this Condon fella I’ve heard is in the squad? Only thing I’ve heard about him is that he’s a rotund decent AIL player who made the squad ahead of Borlazy?
