First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Nigel Walker, Stephen Ferris, and Planet Rugby's team of the round above the bar!

Spoiler:

Ale cuppa coffee mug guinness cider raspberry RedWine Bubbly

he was exposed defensively pretty badly at times against the Dragons, step him up another level to international and it could be a very bad day for him.

It's benefits and costs, Dreamer. We would have to balance what he brings to the game as an attacking player against the weaknesses in his game.

Perhaps, I dunno, I just think how Wales go about playing, we need to have a solid defensive 10. Rhys P has worked really hard on this aspect of his game and the benefits paid off in the world cup (even if he has slipped back a bit at the moment). The likes of Tovey, Morgan etc need to develop this part of their game more, if they are going to get a chance (imo wrth gwrs Smile )

If you pick Priestland you can't say you wont pick Morgan or Tovey because of their weak defence, as F Priestland's is just as blydi bad!

Great, it'll be great to have those lads exposed to that level of rugby. Also McFadden to the wing- Ireland call for the man who'll be wearing the green 22 shirt and covering the outside backs?

What do you mean by “all out” Glas? I think Mclaughlin is injured and with the size of the pack Montpellier are sending then I can understand Ruddock being in there. Hagan, well, he must be going well in training is all!

Sexton is starting too, thankfully!

Kiwi!

That is so funny. Our wee fella found some of my old LPs in the attic at my parent' place the other day. He phoned to tell me. He kept reading out the titles to let me know what was there. He didn't seem to get that I knew what was there because I bought them!!!

He brought some home and wants to frame them!

Even with his limited improvement he is no better than the other two named is my point. Also Biggar's defence is better than the other three put together meaning our backrow and inside centre can concentrate a bit more on attack.

Here's the official update on the wishful thinking;

-Ulster seem likely to be facing David Skrela at the weekend. The first time Ulster and Skrela crossed paths was the European Cup Final in 1999, Ulster prevailed over his club at the time Colomiers on that occassion
-Ulster will be wearing red, just as they were in the aforementioned game.
-It will be Ulsters 100th European game

I thought our away strip was the stripey one?

Or the blue HEC one although I can see why we are not wearing that at ASM.

mmmm food. 20 mins late going for lunch has resulted in me buying a hell of a lot from Greggs. Bean, cheese and sausage melt - lush!

mrsPenfro - not sure I feel quite that strongly!

Thomond - afternoon, reckon your guys can do the Scarlets a favour, and get a win this weekend then?

Diolch Penfro!

Although, a dilemma. Cross Keys v Llanelli is on same time as Castre v Scarlets. Going to have to have one on the tv and one on the laptop (if I can find anywhere showing the Scarlets match as it's on the stupid red button!)

I reckon this pub won't last out the day, so any nominations for wall pictures for the next pub? If you've got a link to a pick include it - as with this pub we can embed and spoiler them.

Secondly, as I've got a quiet weekend planned, Thomond, any chance you can PM me your little list? Last weekend I converted my old laptop (with dead battery and screen) into a "desktop" PC/bedroom TV* by buying a monitor plus wireless keyboard and mouse. Some rugby watching tomorrow would be great Smile

*Gotta love BBC iPlayer

Afternoon all

I am not having a good week. After shelling out £1400 quid on car repairs on Tuesday I thought that things could not get any worse, but lo and behold, I was wrong. Yesterday evening I prepared the little ones tea and they went and washed their hands as they always. Whislt they were eating I was sat in the lounge talking to the wife and heard a dripping noise from the kitchen. Thinking that I hadn't turned the tap off properly I went in to do so, only to find water pishing through the ceiling. Having then run quickly upstairs I discovered that one of the little ones had put the plug in to wash her hands and had not turned the tap off and the bathroom was flooding. The wife is currently at home awaiting a British Gas engineer as the water leaked down into the boiler!!!!!

Then on top of that, the smallest of the Mini O's was up all night vomitting, and is still doing so now. All in all, it has been a pretty crap 24 hours!!!

Anyway, rant over.

I have to say it just goes to prove how much I love the Heineken Cup when I am just as excited about this weekends games as I would be if London Irish were still in the mix for the quarters. Am I right in thinking that if Connacht beat Quins tonight, then Ulster are through, irrespective of what happens in France tomorrow?
