Munster v Northampton....could be painful
First topic message reminder :
Even though Munster have won five out of five they have been unconvincing overall. I fear that I will be watching tomorrows game from behind the couch as the Saints have nothing to lose and will be out for revenge....could be very painful to watch.
Only hope is the lads have a backs to the wall attitude and look for that home QF cos if we dont get it our stay in the HC will end at that point....also the issue with Ashton might be to our advantage.
With Ronan out Ryan will probably go to the backrow, otherwise it will be unchanged I would imagine...

Re: Munster v Northampton....could be painful
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful Munster.
Like I said a few days ago - They are a tough bunch of b......s, they know it, Europe knows it and Northampton knows it..
Zebo I've been watching for a long time. Initially I was very impressed... then he strarted doing the RL stall'n'step whenever he got the ball and I sadly began to lose hope. But now he has real Union grit and Munster honesty.
This man has the potential to be Ireland's next real superstar. But it was the whole team - loved the intensity. That is Munster coming out of second gear and going into third. They have more.

Era bollix with your rl step. He still does it and does it well I doubt they taught him that up in Con. Zebo and POM should have been in that team last year.
Anyone see rob Kearney interview after the leinster game. Should be replayed for Munster before every game this year.

No offence...the written word and all that. A very happy night..I replied to your question on Earls at length on the other thread, all nicely confirmed this evening...

What's this interview that Kearney did? What did he say or do? I watched the recorded game and didn't see him interviewed on Sky. is it online?

Re: Munster v Northampton....could be painful
Should have read the summary first! No, I read it and you think he'd be and has been a good centre. I'm willing him to be... like him as a player. I like players that pulse and move in uncertain ways and in the end that's never a rock of unending certainty. Risk and sometimes mistakes come with it and God knows O'Driscoll has had his share of those. So I'm wishing Earls well, hope it brings a fresh injection of surprise to the opposition. Good hunting to him and the team. I just always personally liked him on the wing where I think if he gets the ball quick enough he's a handful.

It was shown on tg4. He said that leinster wanted to put down a marker by winning and being top seeds in the competition for the qfs. Come to think of it maybe the Munster lads saw it before the game

I don't think Munster needed a Leinster fella getting their bloodlust up to speed.... and even if they did, they studiously hide the fact

Ah in fairness to Kearney, not like he went overboard or anything, wanting to send messages and such the like. As a die hard Munster fan and 6 of 6 and number seed aside, the best team in Europe is Leinster. Could we beat them? Of course, but they would be favourites.

Ah jees come on there was nothing wrong with Kearneys interview? He wants his team to be the best and be the top seeds, what else would you expect him to stay?
Don't derail the thread and detract from Munsters outstanding performance.
Earls has done really well and Zebo is a serious talent. With the players Munster have to come back they will be serious contendors for the title....if they can get past us of course....

Re: Munster v Northampton....could be painful
You would wonder how these were the same two teams from the first pool game.
Munster have been hit with some amount of injuries but if you were to say Wallace would be out, Ronan would be out and Leamy wouldn't be starting the final game of a HC pool back in the summer I'd be worried. But D Ryan is a man possessed at both second row and flanker now. Brilliant display. POM is the next set of initials to be instantly reckonisable. Brilliant display. Coughlan, best I've seen of him.
Also for a backline and back3 that is meant to have problems, they really clicked and understood lines/formations both in defense and offense.
Front row was the only slight blemish from the game but considering it is the Saints front row, anything better than utter-destruction is an achievement in my book.
Well done Munster.

Re: Munster v Northampton....could be painful
Band, I think it was utter destructiion up front. Well, in saying that, on our put in I don't think we conceded any penalties. A free kick twice for not putting it in quicker, but one their ball.... we were mangled. For sport.
Rodders,
Totally agree. Leinster hiding their light under a bushel as defending champions and twice winners in 3 years would be a most disingenuous activity. They are a class side that play classy rugby and must be favourites after Toulouse lost again.
Saying all of that though, I wouldn't be as afraid of meeting Leinster as I was before last night. We clicked in attack and were good in defence. And were very competitive at the breakdown and out of touch etc. The guys were hungry and worked incredibly hard. Not without error but vastly improved on anything else delivered this season.
And with a guaranteed Irish semi Finalist, hopefully this is another good year for Irish rugby in general!

This will be the best debators! Things are going to a new level, I can feel it!
Three Irish sides are the cream of Europe, all Irish final...this is new territory...the bar is being raised out of sight!
Over to you Mr Kidney!

Don't be such a dryballs debaters. I didn't say there was anything wrong with what Kearney said and leinster walk the walk for sure..but motivational gaffs are always helpful...
Would you ever get over yourself or at least find the humour switch

Have to say. Very happy I backed Munster. Got odds of 2/1 and was able to double my money

Ah DOD, I'm not being a dryballs, but as gaffs go that is a small one. Certainly not up there with 'looking forward' to going to Thomond et al.
Well done Stag.

I will ask on this thread also - anywhere I could see the tries from both this game and Leinsters? Dying to see! Especially Zebo, the guy looks immense.

Re: Munster v Northampton....could be painful
Great performance, before this match I wouldn't have been worried had Leinster come up against Munster in the knockouts but can't say that anymore.
Still it looks like we'll avoid Ulster in the quarters now so can't say I'm disapponted with that, they're starting to show some real strong form now too.

Re: Munster v Northampton....could be painful
I do hope 'some' of this violence of intent to compete (not unlawfully!) that has been shown by Ulster, Munster and Leinster ... and indeed Connacht... is reflected in how the Irish side attacks this 6N. I'd love them to approach every game with an intensity that is hard to live with - not just a few selected strategic games - all of them.

Zebo Zebo Zebo
What a match Munster were just brilliant
Watched it in Crowes in Ballsbridge and had a ball with all the ladyboys
Coughlan was just outstanding the amount of ball carrying and line breaks was phenomenal. He must have been close to mom
Poc what can't you say about the man
Earls had his best game in a while
Bring on the quarters in thomond play like that and I wouldn't be worried about anybody ....well maybe a little about ulster
