While none of us exactly trust Frank it is true what he says about the mentality of some peoples attitude towards Nathan who has held the WBO Title just over a year yet everyone expects world domination straight away other than that you are just a stay at home bum bla bla

Re: Frank Warren on Cleverly
Put quite simply Cleverly is nothing but a paper champion at present. He didn't win the title by beating the champion only he gained it through the champ running away (not his fault) but it nevertheless has to be taken into account. The way he has gained his title is less impressive than Calzaghe and his defences so far have also been less impressive than Calzaghe's first handful.
In his defence, he's still a new champion and I've said it before people on 606v2 are far too quick to judge him after two defences. However this Karpency chap sounds worse than anything that Calzaghe ever faced and Calzaghe as we all know gets stick for a lot of the fights he took, even Pudwill is better and as I've also pointed out Pudwill was a second substitute brought in on about two weeks notice, (something people neglect to mention when bashing Calzaghe), Warren does not have this as an excuse in explaining away Karpency!
Cleverly needs to get this one out of the way and fast. Then fight someone well rated in his next fight. If another Karpency is dished up next time I will readily join the 606v2 sceptics in a chorus of disapproval!

Peter Manfredo Jr, reality star and then boxer. I would say he was probably even less deserving!!

Nope. Manfredo was at least ranked by the WBO at around #5.
Karpency is not in the top 10 of any organisation as far as I'm aware, this is a terrible fight.

If Frank can get them to sanction Bobby Gunn can't imagine this will be a problem.

Its not just a WBO thing though is it
Audley Harrison was not in any organisations top 10 when he fought David Haye for the WBA title

Should there not be a mandatory defense for this belt? Bellew and this clown are surely cherrys ripe for the picking.
Re: Frank Warren on Cleverly
Are you sure about Audley Steffan, thought with some governing bodies getting the euro belt automatically got you in the top fifteen, should add I am not justifying Haye picking him he was six in Britain with Boxing Monthly and the match was a joke from start to finish.

I checked all the rankings when the fight was announced and im sure I never seen Audley in any of them. He was European 'champion' I guess. Its a shame he hadnt put that 'champion' spirit into the fight and thrown more than one punch

You're bang on Rowley - Audley was "15th", by the WBA after beating Sprott - just enough to earn him a tilt at a belt.

Now If you've got an envelope and some money...you can get your milkman a shot!!!

Re: Frank Warren on Cleverly
Think you're right Rowley, think the european belt gets you an automatic top 15 spot with the WBA.
As for accepting this if it were Lewis or Hatton, well it's mute point as they never stooped so low with there level of opposition, think that every fighter they defended against were rated in the ring mags top ten at the time with the exception of Mavrovic (still levels above Karpency).
