Re: Your perfect fight card......EVER!
at cruiserweight - fantastic matchup. Don't remember him for his fight against Tyson otherwise you will never understand.
Re: Your perfect fight card......EVER!
Shah Ali v Louis would be a shut out for Ali. C'mon Louis the plodding static heavy against Ali speed of hand and foot. Imagine what the Ali that beat Williams would do to Louis.
Never understood why people bring up that fantasy fight. Pretty one sided if you ask me.

Louis may not be able to move like Ali - and it may be as you say an easy victory although never a shutout - but Louis is a master technician - I would be intrigued to see if Ali had the wits to work him out.

Arguello vs Mayweather

Both valid descriptions of two great fighters.
Can't remember any footage of Louis dancing much shah.

Re: Your perfect fight card......EVER!
neither did Tyson and hes far from a plodder as you could get. Louis was excellent at getting into position and timing fighters right at the point of maximum power on his shots. fantastic coordination.
Re: Your perfect fight card......EVER!
Defence, parrying the jab, feinting - each of these require at least semi decent footwork to utilise effectively at the level he fought at.
Re: Your perfect fight card......EVER!
Not dissing his skills Shah but fact is he was a plodder but as you say a great accurate puncher.

Marciano against Dempsey would be a tear up from start to finish.
Arguello against Mayweather I find almost impossible to call, the perfect straight punches of Alexis wouldn't be the easiest thing to counter.
Spinks and Holyfield at cruiserweight could be a intriguing but potentially boring fight, the unorthodox nature of Spinks fighting could prove crucial.

I can't call Arguello v Mayweather either. Pryor with his crazy style really troubled Alexsis.
Both very well conditioned athletes but I can't call it.

Re: Your perfect fight card......EVER!
I see Pryor beating everyone and anyone at 140lbs so no shame in losing that one, gun to my head would go for Arguello.

Re: Your perfect fight card......EVER!
I'd make Foreman clear favourite, also, but that is irrelevant to the fact that it would be tremendously exciting while it lasted.
Dempsey v Firpo was a two round shoot out, but it's still one of the most exciting scraps in heavyweight history.

Re: Your perfect fight card......EVER!
Excellent shout on Johnson and Ali, I'd like Frazier-Marciano as well.
Some obvious, some not so obvious matchups...
HW - Tyson-Liston.
MW - Fitzsimmons-Griffith.
MW - Monzon-Hagler.
CW - Jeanette-Holyfield
WW/LMW - Burley-Mayweather
LWW - Pacquiao-Pryor
LHW - RJJ-Foster
LHW - Hopkins-Charles

Pacquiao and Pryor could be fun while it lasted Oxy
Unfortunately for Hopkins I see him going very much down the Moore route of being toyed with round after round before being stopped.

Exactly
Maybe Hopkins-Fitzsimmons at MW - over 25 rounds. So Hopkins could watch a "white boy" beat him.

Re: Your perfect fight card......EVER!
I'm actually trying to think of any fighter I would back to beat Charles at either middleweight or light heavyweight and can't really think of anyone (once in a lifetime wins for Bivins and Marshall aside).
