First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of John Hayes, Craig Gilroy,
Niall O'Connor, Ben Skirving and Jonny May above the bar!

Unfortunately this game has been a massive come down in terms of quality and intensity from the other five I've watched this weekend Crying or Very sad

Notch - tis lacking a bit in intensity isn't it? too many errors.

I don't want to be harsh on the Blues, can only beat who's put in front of you. And Racing have mixed moments of brilliance into their abject mediocrity.

But seriously, if they're going to draw Clermont they need a massive step up in quality! Do you think they'll sell the game out? The mental Clermont fans will come in big, big numbers anyway!

Hi all.

Just watched a bit of the Cardiff v Racing match.

What a strange game. You look at the scoreboard and you think WOW but then you watch a bit and all I can think is U14s???

Am I being very unfair? Was the first half better?

Not really MrsP. To be fair some of the tries have been very good. Then they go back to sleep.

I am not sure that many sides will fear Clermont Notch. Sure when they are seriously on form they are brilliant but when they are not, they are very beatable and to be fair, Clermont are more off than on i feel.

Aye billy, but this is simply not a team who look at the level of the other sides in the Heineken Cup Quarter finals.

ha MrsP I think U14's sums it up!

Warbs and 1/2p looking good and Cuthbert finishing well but that's pretty much it from a Blues perspective.

If they play like this the only run they'll be making is back to the changing rooms at the end of the game. They are nip and tuck against a misfiring side who should be being put to the sword.

Why Brive for the Scarlets? Is it the usual ERC type draw then, where no-one actually sees it happen? We might be up for that trip. What are the other options apart from Brive?

Why the little digs ? The Irish sides have done extremely well and I have been very impressed with them.
And if the Blues join you in the quarters they did so because they did what was needed.

I think it's coz we last sport of qualifing in the HEC and that means we play Amlin 2 (2nd qualifier) which at the moment I think is Brive, but I don't know if results today will effect that at all? Headscratch I find it all most confusing. Just going by what they are saying on SF really!

Mrs Penfro.

The Amlin qualifying ranking goes

1 ACC 1 (Top ranked ACC Pool winner)
2 ACC 2 (Second ranked ACC Pool winner)
3 ACC 3 (Third ranked ACC Pool winner)
4 ACC 4 (Fourth ranked ACC Pool winner)
5 Heineken Cup 1
6 Heineken Cup 2
7 Heineken Cup 3
8 ACC 5 (Fifth Ranked ACC Pool winner)

With 1 playing 8 etc

Jeez, this again? Stop being paranoid. The other games this weekend have been great adverts for European rugby. This has been a low quality, low intensity game. That is all.

You can only beat whats put in front of you, but if Blues play like this again they will lose. They need to improve.

Mrs P, I think I see now. I'll have to watch the 'draw' at 5.25 so I'll know exactly what's happening though.

Racing have actually turned up for this game as well. I really expected this to be a better game tbh. The Blues haven't helped themselves much either.
