I salute the sport of Boxing
Being a sports fan, and maybe a lover of Boxing and Horse racing, Football, Cricket etc. etc.
I salute the sport of Boxing with having "The Greatest Sporting Legend Alive"
Of course it is Mike Tyson... (joke)
No sorry i mean Muhammad Ali 70 years young last week
To me and the world he is fittingly know as the Greatest, as Simply he was..
He transended his sport with his looks and his personality, to me a Real Living Legend.
If we look at other sports such as Horse Racing, Lester Piggot is up there maybe not world renowed
but a genius, Football Maradona, Cricket Ian Botham, to me all living legends, but Boxing has the
Greatest. The very Greatest.

Come on Truss...
I was actually thinking about this the other day, that not many other sports have someone as iconic as Ali, does make boxing great, but we might need someone round about now.

And he loved his country so much that Then one day, dismayed by the racism he encountered in his hometown, the 18-year-old light heavyweight boxing champion stood on a bridge and threw the medal into the Ohio River.
God Bless America..

If you've ever read 606v2 I think you would realise that me and Truss don't see eye to eye on a lot of topics Nissan.

Re: I salute the sport of Boxing
I seen Ali talking about the medal on TV in an old intrview the other day and it was hilarious.
He walked in the diner and sat down and the owner of the diner came up to him and said "we don't serve negro's!"
To this Ali said good I don't eat them! Can I have 2 hamburgers please?"
Obviously it ended with Ali not being served and throwing the medal in a river but it's a great story.

Except, I'm afraid (according to Hauser at least, Ali's official biographer) it didn't happen.
The story about Louisville did I believe, but the medal didn't end up in the Ohio river - he lost it whilst living in Miami.
Frankly - I always found the Ohio river easier to believe. Whoever heard of a man losing his Olympic gold medal FFS?!?
