Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
Was it Warren Chris, may have my dates wrong but was that around the time Eubank was doing his insane schedule?

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
Nope, wasn't Warren either Jeff, in fact during those particular years I believe Hearn put on more world title fights than ol' fish eyes Fwank thanks to Eubank's 168 lb schedule.

Couldn't remember who was promoting him but was very much basing my answer on Eubank's schedule

Good shout there, Coxy, but not quite right. The Duva family were second between 1990 and 1993, with sixty-nine title bouts in that time. They were pipped by someone else, who put on seventy-one.

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
And it's over to you, Rowley. Kushner was indeed the answer. Tends to be forgotten behind the likes of King, Arum and the Duvas as his style wasn't as abrasive and 'in your face' as theirs, but he was virtually monopolizing the IBF title fights in the early nineties. Good work.

Ha !
Just a shot in the dark, mate. Dare say that folks would have a pretty good chance of success if they answered ' Harry Greb ' to any of my questions.

Schmeling is right I reckon, although I'm pretty sure he died at the age of 99 in 2005.

Technically the mysterious Elmer Ray doesn't have a date of death, so he might be the oldest.

its still there, but as more articles are posted, it will fall down the list. It was just incase you wanted it 'stuck' at the top incase you wanted to re-read it etc and keep them together.

Who links the fight with the highest paying attendance of all time with the fight in which the winner became the oldest ever Heavyweight to win the title?

Is the second fight Foreman vs Moorer, or do you mean oldest to first win the title?

Hmm, so we're looking for someone who links Zale v Pryor with Foreman v Moorer.
The fights over were 50 years apart, is it something similar to John Lukic being a survivor of the Munich disaster?

In 1975, Luis Esteba successfully defended his WBC light-flyweight title against Rafael Lovera, winning via KO in the 4th.

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
Union, I believe that's the fight where his opponent (Rafael Lovera) was making his professional debut - but the reason he'd got his shot was because his manager had fabricated an entirely made up record which had not been explored by the WBC.

That's right Chris, it was Lovera's first (and last) professional fight.

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
A recycled one for you all, as I'm struggling to think of any fresh material right now.
Before Michael Spinks became the first Light-Heavyweight champion to step up and win the Heavyweight crown, ten other 175 lb kings had tried and failed; Jack Root, Jack O'Brien, John Henry Lewis, Georges Carpentier, Bob Foster, Tommy Loughran, Joey Maxim, Billy Conn and Archie Moore are nine of them. Which name is missing?

Very quick out of the blocks there, Windy. Yes, it was Lesnevich - I see you remember that debacle we had with that same question on the old 606!

So I do, mate.
What significant law was passed immediately following the Jeffries v Johnson fight of 1910, and would remain on the US statute books until 1940 ?

Only in two seaters, and only for white Americans.

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
This one seems to have died a natural, so I'll spill the beans and declare the floor open for somebody else to set us a teaser.
Because of the race riots, and because White America didn't want Johnson's victory to be widely seen, the distribution across state lines of ALL fight films was banned. As a result, fighters lost revenue, many fights which would have been otherwise filmed were not, and some footage which did exist went missing for years. Ironically, the Johnson v Willard fight didn't resurface until the '60s, for example.
It wasn't until 1940 that the law was repealed, primarily - and again, ironically - to allow Joe Louis' defences to be seen by the masses.
