Other than that all I know is that McCoy must have been one of the worst Middleweight champions of all time

Believe it or not, his perceived lack of quality has some bearing on the answer.

No, mate, that's not it.
Think about the man he beat to take the title, and then go from there.

His opponent never actually defended his title since he claimed it.

Let's think outside the box, for a second.
Think of Ole Gunnar Solskjaar, ( spelling ? ) the former Manchester United footballer, and a song by The Who.

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
Very well done, D4. You just pipped Ghosty to it.
McCoy was, indeed, scheduled to fight JOE Chip in a low key affair in Brooklyn. Joe was sick or injured in training, ( can never remember which, ) and George stepped in and put his title on the line. Less than three minutes later he was an ex champ, to the astonishment of everybody in boxing.
Over to you, D4.

I'm sure Ghosty won't mind deferring to you, mate, since you did get the answer right. The fact that Chip substituted for his brother is just an interesting sideline.

Re: Pass the Parcel Quiz.
Ghosty have got the Pollack book along with his books on Sully, Jeffries, and Hart. They are all excellent. If possible try and read them in order though as they overlap but the detail in each is staggering and short of being there you could not get a more detailed record of how their careers went.
If you have not read them though should forewarn you there is little to nothing about their lives outside the ring but the in ring information and training regimes is beyond exhaustive.

Will give them a read Jeff, never been too interested about the out of ring aspects of fighters always leads to clouded judgement on my part.
