New Women's No.1
Caroline Wozniacki is set to lose her world no.1 spot after going out in the quarter finals to Kim Clijsters, it is reported. There are three players who could take her spot, and according to the BBC:
Petra Kvitova will be the new world number one if she wins the tournament, or loses to Kim Clijsters in the final.
Victoria Azarenka or Maria Sharapova will rise to the top of the rankings if either wins the tournament.
So what happens if Clijsters beats Sharapova in the final? Does Wozniacki manage to hold on to her ranking? Or have the BBC simply forgotten to include this permutation?

I think Sharapova becomes world number one if she loses to Clijsters in final, but not if she loses against Azarenka obviously.

Is that an important question?
Just kidding.

If I've got the numbers right, if MaSha loses the final to Clijsters she falls a little short of Kvitova's total, so Kvitova would be the number 1.
As it stands, Kvitova and Azarenka have already past C Woz on points gained and lost this tournament, with Sharapova being less than 100 points behind Wozniacki.

In that case I think Kvitova will get to the top spot.
Very happy finally Woz is no longer there!
