Sanity returns to the WTA

2. Kvitova
3. Sharapova
4. Wozniacki

If that is indeed correct we finally have a no.1 and no.2 who deserve that status (winners of two out of the three last slams). Sharapova deserves to be in the top 3 although Azarenka made her look very ordinary.

The challenge is there for Wozniacki to make back to no. 1 but please if she does so can it be by winning a slam rather than by simply collecting endless air miles. She just about deserves to be no. 4 but Azarenka showed how far she is from being a genuine no. 1 whatever the rankings told us before.

Huh?? The last slam was US open 2011 which Sam Stosur won and she lost in the first round this AO.

raiders you are quite right and apologies for such nonsense.

It still remains the fact that Azarenka and Kvitova look like the appropriate no. 1 and 2 in the world.

The tour was devalued by the lack of a true no. 1 player and maybe now interest will revive in at least two worthwhile contenders for the top spot.
