Shot distances and cold weather - Page 2 Empty Shot distances and cold weather

Post by navyblueshorts Mon 30 Jan 2012, 11:32 am

First topic message reminder :

This may sound like a dumb question, but how many out there factor the cold weather into their club selections on approach shots? I reckon it's costing me a good club extra on a typical approach but having swallowed my ego and accepted it's happening, I've found my irons into greens to be very good for distance the last couple of weeks and last round, in particular, had a lot of putts which were very make-able.

I'd guess it's mainly down to the ball being a lot less elastic (certainly sounds harder off the putter) and a bit to do with increased air density. One thing's for sure though - roll on warmer days.

Maybe I just find the terms "poof" and "gaylord" offensive, is that so hard to believe?

Fader, Mac, or "Disgusted of Turnbridge Wells" as he is often referred is offended by absolutely everything (or at laeast he pretends to be as he thinks that he "should" be offended), and if he isn't then he's offended on other peoples behalf.

He once emailed to say that describing Mirka Federer as a boiler was disrespectful, that's how much of a ninny he can be.
The boards wouldn't be the same without him, but he makes The Guardian look like Mein Kampf.

How on earth does someone get through the day being that sensitive..

Mirka Federer used to be fairly attractive but in all honesty she is proof of how some people let themselves go.

As for Guardian readers tough for me to comment I work for the Telegraph so fine line that one.

Super

I think you will find I also sent a PM about making homophobic comments, seems you did not want to listen.

I never read the guardian by the way.

Hardly homophobic Mac, I doubt even a genuine gay person would be "offended" about that.

Have to say I cannot see the homophobia in the comments made, certainly not PC but far too many people try to be PC now simply for the sake of it. I can only think if you see either light heard quip as homphobic in context then you are indeed oversensitive to others needs.

You'd find a lot of gay people see the comical side of those comments in the context they were implied. I work with quite a few gay and lesbian people that would be more offended that someone can openly see such a quip as anything other than a ribbing after all it has not been implied to call your sexuality into question. All it has done is try to mock you in a lighthearted way for being a fairweather golfer.

Goods points all re. footrest-type bits of furniture etc. Bit off topic though.
