Oh Dear SRU....
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/international/scotland/9049601/Scotland-v-England-SRU-red-faced-after-selling-Calcutta-Cup-winners-T-shirts-online-ahead-of-Six-Nations-opener.html
Speaks volumes when people will make a shirt to celebrate winning a single game.
at least when England and Nike c*cked up it was over a grandslam

Re: Oh Dear SRU....
Well it doesn't put a year at least.
You could make a whole line of these t-shirts. From the bargain cheap Scotland vs Romania and Georgia winners to the more top of the line Scotland vs South Africa winners.
Doesn't matter when it happened but only that it did happen. I might buy one of those Calcutta Cup winner t-shirts. I have fond memories of that game. Absolutely car crash of a game but watched it with a Scottish friend and all I remember is the joy at the end.

I don't believe the SRU site is actually run by the SRU. it is run by a company called Greaves Sports, quite a well known sports shop chain in Glasgow. They (Greaves) have come out and said that these are left over shirts from 2008.

Does anyone really think this is a big deal? Really? I think I am going to order one, for, well, I think its funny. None of these kinds of thigs are earth shatteriing.
And for the record, there is no arrogance with this. That word gets thrown around on these boards more than the word Try. People need to relax.

Re: Oh Dear SRU....
I think the point is the amount of time people spent mocking England about the grandslam thing ( it made all the news weebsites) when this is of course perfectly normal. The merch gets designed and ordered ahead of time so its ready for sale ...its hardly a great shock is it?
Im pretty sure we can turn this into an opportunity to have a go at England somehow....

It's a bit of an own goal, especially after Robinson's 'arrogance' comments. The SRU need to be a bit more careful about how they allow stuff to go up on their website
I can't see Lancaster pinning one up in the England dressing room to motivate the team.

Quite right, nathan, give us sweaties shoite for that!! Altho, Greaves, the company that runs the site, have stated that they are 2008 leftovers - could be a massive cover-up of Scottish arrogance tho!

God you Scottish still banging on about 2008? Im sure the BBC coverage will all be focussed on "our Danny " and THAT kick etc etc
Mind I dont think the RFU had a website last time England won up there

Re: Oh Dear SRU....
It does look a nice t-shirt - so might have a pop and get one. As stated it is from 2008 and the fact that it does not have a date on, could be used in the future (We will certainly win one or two in the next 100 years)

Re: Oh Dear SRU....
It is no big issue - just as England/Nike ad being recorded was no issue, nor Ireland/Wales printing GS T-shirts before they won so they could go on sale the same day as they won their last Grand Slams.
If Italy print GS T-shirts though..........

Re: Oh Dear SRU....
As usual this is just the press blowing things completely out of proportion.
Greaves sport are the official SRU supplier - when you go to the SRU website and click on the shop it takes you to Graves sport.
Greaves sport printed t-shirts after the 2008 win and were planning on selling them if we won again - except someone got twitchy and put the link up by mistake.
So was it the SRU being arrogant? No.
Just very bad timing for Greaves sport to mess up!
I bet it was an Englishman working for them....

Now that definitely was a Scotsman!
I hate sensationalising by the media/public - I really do. I wasn't that bothered about the England GS video, just as I'm not bothered about this because it was a complete mistake outwith the SRU's control. Yet I know the media will hype it up as much as possible with misleading headlines and articles. Just like the media saying there's proof Scotland wants independance because 51% of the 1000 people interviewed (out of a country of 5 million) said yes....
Greaves sport are very embarrassed by it by the look of things and won't help their relationship with the SRU!

That would be because younger brothers always enjoy a laugh at the oldest's expense.

Those typical arrogant Scots!
First they get all het up about independence, then they do this unspeakably arrogant t-shirt stunt.

Re: Oh Dear SRU....
I think it was the Nike reps leaked email that stated "when we win against Ireland on saturday" that was controversial. Some old Calcutter cup T-shirts going on re-sale is hardly the same ball park...!
Email transcript below:
"We have commissioned a special limited edition T-shirt to celebrate the England Grand Slam 2011, which we will give to the players when we win against Ireland on Saturday," reads the email sent on Friday by a Nike executive, the contents of which have been seen by Telegraph Sport.
The T-shirt is inspired by the iconic English rose (like the kit) and 5K units will go into retail at the RFU & NikeTown London after the game.
"In the spirit on owning sporting moments, we will also execute a burst of Digital Out-of-Home activity that will start right on the final whistle in over 20 of London’s most prominent underground stations through Digital Escalator Panels and Cross-Track Projections."

Re: Oh Dear SRU....
How did the Telegraph see an (I assume) internal email from a Nike exec? Was he emailing his Scotish/Irish coworkers?

I guess ANdy Robinson is English, so he must have been the driving force behind the T-SHirt, showing his arrogence, and thus proving his point!
