I agree.
Harris is made of glass, and they'd do better to try and have him fit for every test rather than risk breaking him in an ODI.

This morning Aus 280/6 (Forrest 104, Clarke 72) lost to SL 283/7 (49.2) (Jayawardene 85, Chandimal 80).

Oh ok, cheers Kiwi. I had no idea it was on.
Sri Lanka have really turned this around then. They were bottom not that long ago.

Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
CB series isn't using the NRR as the tie breaker, they are using the H2H. So if India want to get through, they could lose to Australia. Beat Sri Lanka with a bonus point. Then hope Australia beat Sri Lanka.Kiwireddevil wrote:Not quite.eirebilly wrote:Am i right in thinking that India are now out?
They need win well twice, and have the Aussies lose twice (picking up a bonus point win would help massively, as their NRR is rubbish)
But in all likeliness India will get smashed twice more and then go home.

too right Demon. His figures are very sound. I guess it's harder to come back to full fitness after so many injuries... yet he still manages to bag clumps of wickets.
The other young bowlers who have got injured have it all ahead of them too. How will Pattinson, Starc, Cummins, etc be performing when they are Rhino's age?
Big match on here tomorrow for Oz and India. The weather has been great for about a week but would you believe there is a chance of a thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon? I hope not. My gut feeling is it will be fine... it's been quite hot today (Saturday)
Well played Sri Lanka. Just goes to show with all their experience in ODIs they are a formidable side when chasing decent scores like 280 without panicking and falling short. It doesn't happen too often. I think they like playing here... value for shots and good playing conditions usually.
India can pull out a big performance too I feel. They should have good support from the many Indians living here who are incredibly faithful and passionate fans mostly.
Despite the summer of Tests I really do think there is still a huge amount of Indian talent out on the field. It's great watching Kohli and others gaining confidence. If India start winning again they'll be hard to stop. Let's hope it's an entertaining match.

Not sure how you reach that conclusion.cricketfan90 wrote:he's still better than raina lol!
Uthappa played 38 ODIs and only averaged 27. With only 5 x 50.
Raina has scored hundreds at Test, ODI and IT20 level.

Interestingly poised, the Australian innings at the moment. 160-4 in the 34th over.
India might be short on one of the seamers, as Pathan doesn't seem a 100 % after he and Raina smashed into each other while running for a skyer from Warner that was eventually taken by Raina.

Anyone saw the David Hussey incident? Thought the umpires got it absolutely wrong. For he was hitting the ball away with non-batholding hand, and he was OUT. For some strange reasons, he was given notout. Think the ICC and the umpires owe an explanation.

Yes he was out. Umpires got it wrong.
They'll be lucky to get 250-260 from here. Both Christian and Lee struggling.

India needs 253 then. Had the umpires acted with sense, it would have been a lot less. But a decent effort in the field on the part of India, and Sehwag bowled well for his 3 wickets. His job is with the bat though, a typical Sehwag nock would go a long way for India.

it cracks me up that everytime india get an LBW appeal turned down they look baffled...
if they used common sense and had UDRS, they would be able to overturn several decisions

Oh dear. It looks like India are fixed on heading straight for home now after that debacle. A shame as man-for-man they remain the world's best ODI team.

Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
India chased down 320 in under 37 overs this morning on the back of 133 off 86 from Kohli to earn a bonus point and keep their finals hopes alive. Earlier Dilshan (160no) and Sangakkara (105) had set up what looked like a pretty good total for SL.
SL must beat Australia on Friday to make the finals, as India has the better of their head-to-head record (4 matches, 2 Indian wins, 1 SL and one tie).

Blimey , Kiwi , I thought you were winding us up when I read that ! Had listened to the end of Sri Lanka's innings and was so sure the match was "over" I didn't even bother looking for the scores ...
That sort of run chase is just ridiculous ...Malinga going at 12.5 per over
Not suggesting anything " funny" , but how nice for the organizers and the TV station that the last match won't be a dead rubber

Apologies for not updating this thread in the last few days... I've been busy.
SL made 238 with Chandimal top scoring with 75 and Sanga 64.
Christian took a hat-trick in his 5/31 whilst Pattinson took 4/51.
Oz require another 143 runs with 29 overs to go... and 7 wickets in hand.

Me too. I picked Aus-SL in the poll.
Another great win for them.
They have the wood on us so I'm hoping 'the momentum' might shift in the Finals.

Great match - finals will have a hard time living up to the last couple of qualification games !
Australia/Sri Lanka seem evenly matched on the recent results - I'd still fancy Aus in home conditions, but they'll want Clarke back and fully fit...
Oi billy , what's this about retiring from the cricket board? I trust you are joking - wouldn't be the same without you (in fact some match threads would be just about vacant at times...)

Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
Great victory by the Lankans after the mauling they got from their neighbours. all the more brilliant because they only had around 5 overs from Mathews and Perera combine.
This kid Chandimal looks an amazing talent. Did well in SA and now the 2nd highest run getter in the CB series.
SL are the favourites for me heading into the finals. They have beaten Australia 3 times during the group stages. Plus they won their last ODI series in Australia as well.

Australia 230/4 after 40 overs. Warner 125*, Clarke 3. Earlier Wade made 64.
Should be looking at around 300 run total... more would be nice.
