Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
sri lanka motoring along at 8 an over 32 of four. Looks like Dilshan has been designated the aggressive and Jayawardene the suport
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
oh dear - jayawardene caught behind - he was begining to pick up the pace too. C wade B Lee Tempted by a nice outswinger but a v soft dismissal. Tried to edge it through third man area.
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
Dilshan out - was looking dangerous for a while - got lucky with a top edge that went over the keeper but is finally bowled by Lee off the last ball. nice little dipper - 52-2 after 7
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
Sangakarra picking up the responsibility for the run getting - poor over from pattinson yields 14 runs a dot, a brace. a dot and three fours, wide of off, down the leg side and a drive he wasnt quite in control of respectively. 66/2 off 8 overs.
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
Nice tight over from Watson yielding just a single and a leg bye. Lee strangely taken off - although he has accounted for the openeners
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
Nice tight over from doherty yielding just the one then followed up by watson with a caught behind appeal turned down clipped the thigh pad on the way through. Two singles of the last two balls
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
again a tight over from doherty yield just three singles
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
Game set match. Sangakarra out 115/4 need 208 of 27 overs and well behind on d/l
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
At least sri lanka are going for broke - I cant stand watching losing teams just batting out the overs
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
74 of 51 2 massive 6 OH no husseys got im kulesekara is out. Couragous and scintillating innings - has hussey ended sri lankas chances with that wicket
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
oh dear DL might play a part - Sri lanka 4 runs behind the rate
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
need to be 289/7 at 46 overs to win by dl - watson has been bowling tightly all day current score is 285/7 after 45.4
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
36 off 24 required - Tharnga caught at on going for the big six. This game is bloody incredible.
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
23 of 18 - prasad six of first ball giving the impetus. Watson has been bowling absolutely brilliantly all the way through - might need him to win it for them. a single 22 of 17
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
oh watson another wicket - 20 from 12 last wicket
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
Aussies game to lose 16 of last over 1 wicket left. Watson to bowl
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
All out - heartfelts congrats to australia and shane watson - for holding their nerve and fantastic from sri lanka to bring it so close after a less than ideal base. Warner should get motm but Kulesekara ought to be right there a fraction behind him,
Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
Its quite clear that SL have amazing fighting qualities! I still back them to win the series.

Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
Yes it wouldn't surprise me either. They are a great team to watch and I honestly didn't think they would get as close as they did when they were 140odd/6.
I really enjoyed that game. Pity there were not more people at the ground although the SL support was excellent.
(the footy season started this last weekend so I think people are just a little tired of the cricket now. It's been a long season so far)

Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
Australia posted 271/6 after their 50 overs with Clarke making 117(91) and Warner 100(140). Malinga took 3/40 off his 10 overs.
I just don't think it's enough and SL should be able to reach that total.

Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
Nice of you to pop in mate.
Yes it was, but he was hobbling around apparently - carrying an injury from the last game... he took 140 balls.
Probably the worst 3 opening overs I have seen for a while. It was like T20... 30+ runs, endless no-balls (one taking a 'wicket'), edges through everybody going all the way to the boundary rope.
SL have 50 runs on the board after only 6 overs.
Australia is gone in this one... and they'll lose the next one too. There seems to be no intensity. We're phoked. Unless there's some remarkable turnaround, of course.

It would be a shame for you guys to lose Warner to injury though, he is a really exciting player

Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
You're such a top guy Billy.
I had my first taste of 'tayto' crisps today. The bloke from Limerick has apparently got a suitcase full of them. I felt bad when he offered me a whole pack (bacon flavour... some good zing).
Then again, he can always get more boxes shipped out....
Oz seem sharp in the field, SL swinging at it earlier and lucky on a few occasions.
As you say mate, this can't keep on going for the next 25 overs (or whatever) they'll need to wrap this match up. I predict Doherty will make the breakthrough... as Dilshan skies one up and is caught at wide mid-on.
Had to laugh listening to Richie... he didn't seem too worried and had a light-hearted philosophical approach to proceedings. What a nice bloke.

What was Warner up to this morning?
Yes he scored a ton but he got bogged down when there were approx 7-8 overs left and 8 wickets in hand.
IMO he played for that ton and not the team near the end of his innings. Great knock by Clarke though.

Yes, I was offered the choice... he had both. Mini packs they were.
Quite a solid nutty? back taste. Obviously the water growing the 'tates comes from a decently aerated trickling peat bog.
They were very nice indeed.
I'm back home from work now - but managed to have cricinfo ticking away on the task bar at the bottom. Left with 3 overs to go when the blokes on the radio were carrying on about Warner's fitness. Sounded depressing!

I think he strained his side in the 1st final, Stella.
They were saying he looked embarrassed when he got his ton... he struggled and took forever.

Anything to make you feel better mate.
This is a painfully slow match. SL should cruise from here.

Really? Enthralling or just a nice change to see your side winning for once?
These triangular series are crushingly long. Its just as well SL won this or youd have a dead rubber to cap it off with.

For once? Hello? You're kidding me Biscuit.
I don't think they play a dead rubber. If Australia had won - then there would have been no game on Thursday.

Re: ODI Series - 3rd Final: Australia v Sri Lanka, Adelaide
Thanks Billy.
SL require 105 runs off 114 balls. Currently 126/5 after 31 overs.
Australia only made 231 runs. Wade and Warner got off to a good start, 112/0 at one stage then there was a sudden collapse and the prospect of 200 looked improbable... but they somehow managed to get what they got.
