No footage of the Starie fight, gutted. I was there, such a pity I can't relive the magic.

Seeing them listed GG was something of a shock to remember how many I was there for given how negative I can come across about him at times. Some of them were decent nights and fights as well, certainly the case for Eubank, Woodhall, Kessler and Lacy. Still maintain Starie was as bad a fight as I have ever seen live though.

Was it really that bad Jeff, or did you just want it over so that you could watch Tyson?

It was awful mate, Starie has to shoulder a lot of the blame as he was poor and looking to do little than survive but Joe is not blaemeless as he got dragged down to his level. Did Joe's career a lot of harm that one as it was being shown on Showtime in America and the MEN was packed to the rafters, struggle to imagine that anyone who was seeing Joe for the first time would have gone out of their way to watch him again.

I went to the Eubank fight as well, jeff. Great night up in Sheffield with the Prince on the bill against Badillo. I actually went to the Delaney fight as well. It was heavily hyped at the time as a decent matchup between two unbeaten guys, but Calzaghe was in total control throughout from memory. I do remember the atmosphere was pretty sinister though. There was badblood between fighters and fans that night. I was a neutral though so kept my head down!

Good night the Eubank one Tina, Naseem was brilliant against Badillo that night.

He sure was. I remember his jab was just incredible that night, almost like he wanted to prove how orthodox a fighter he could be when he wanted. Really busted Badillo up. Still punctuated the fight with lots of silly dancing, but it has to rank as one of his best 'performances'.

Strangely enough I actually thought the Starrie performance was quite good and one of his better wins. Starrie came to spoil and was gangly and awkward so JC did what he does best and landed plenty of slaps on the way in and during one of the many hundreds of clinches in that fight.
Awful fight in terms of entertainment but it showed that JC was capable of finding a way to win against a fighter hell bent on making things messy.
Besides, Starrie was a decent fighter, he beat Clinton Woods and also got a SD loss against Sven Ottke (make of that what you will!)

Can see where you're coming from D and a win is a win and Joe did win it clearly enough but do think hit hurt him because it was tough to watch and given the profile of the fight did hurt him long term I think.
