So many great fights, sad to see his career end with such a beating

Nice work, Union. I think there is a developing tendancy to underappreciate just what Oscar achieved in his career - poster boy or not, he's worthy of great status. The 1990s version of De la Hoya was a serious, serious operator.
A good edition to the 'Career in Video' series, methinks.

Oscar was good. Not great but very good. Still think Ike was jobbed.

I still always think he won the Trinidad fight and one of the Mosley fights. Considering Mosley also admitted to be juiced for one of their bouts its especially harsh. But with Oscar he got the nod in some fights that were close like Whitaker, Quartey and Sturm so it probably evened itself out.
I always view him as great both in acheivements and actual talent. With the level of competition he faced across a long career and many weights I think losses were inneviteable.

Think oscar has to be a great - with Oscar - you got big fights and big nights and boxing was riding high. Sometimes things didn't go his way but on the whole ODLH was brilliant - skilled charming, courageous everything a big star should be.
Re: Oscar De La Hoya : 39(30)-6-0
I had him losing both Tito fights. With the SSM fight, it should have been changed to a NC (although I had Oscar winning their rematch). I wouldn't have him near the top 10 WW or top 50 ATG.
But he brought boxing from the doldrums.

So did I, including the one they didn't have.

Union, you are the man. You can officially have your AAA rating back now. First Lopez and now De La Hoya, that is two of my top three favourites in the space of a week.
I spent a lovely evening last night watching some of this stuff back and it reminded of glorious days as a young man just getting into the sport seriously through the 90's. I echo Chris, De La Hoya was a beast of a fighter through that period, and I have such fond memories of watching his career.
He was my first boxing 'hero', so much so that I named my first son after him.
Great work, buddy. Thanks.
