A poisoned chalice anyone?
"The deadline for applications for the role of England manager was
Wednesday, with Lancaster, who has won his opening two Six Nations
matches, the only confirmed candidate" (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/17063940".
Hersh obviously forgot to put a stamp on his envelope.

only one confirmed candidate. Do we assume that they don't want to say who else has applied or that nobody else has applied?

Lancaster is confirmed because he's actually come out and said he was applying. That's not to say there aren't any other applications.
Any other applications (including Hersh's) are probably being looked at given that the deadline was only yesterday.

Maybe Johnno applied. Seeing as it the RFU board situation should have been resolved first anyway...

I'm not happy I sent it recorded delivery.
I'm more qualified than MJ was when he was given the job.
Gutted.

I think that there is a conspiracy. In order to keep Hershey out of the job, the players have agreed to reverse last year's plans.
They have decided to play crap in the first two games rather than the last.

Sorry...but I can just imagine the bullshite questions the candidates..... or candidate ...will be asked by the be-suited city boys at that big recruitment firm that has been given the authority to carry out the work of recruiting the coach.
"Right, so...you're in a desert, walking along in the sand, when all of a sudden you look down and see a tortoise. It's crawling towards you. You reach down and flip the turtoise on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, it's belly baking in the hot sun and beating its legs trying to turn itself over but it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping. Why is that Nick?"

This must be a mistake, or they discarded my application.
I included drawings of my proposed game plans. I hope they didn't just steal them. I'll be watching closely.

I love how the RFU think this is the best job in the world and that everyone will want to do it but no one wants it !! that's how we ended with johnno last time......everyone that gets anywhere near the RFU board and squeaky run a mile...they have got rid of a few board members but most of the incompetent meddling tools are still there......a london recruitment firm that knows nothing about rugby to hire england rugby coach sums up that nothing has changed

Wales bit the bullet and brought in Moffet - everyone hated it at the time and some will say he left a mess. But the national game is where the money is.
Sort it out at the top - the rest will follow.
