Re: Trivia
Another question for you all :
Since 2000, two players have won multiple times on the PGA Tour that season before going on to win the Masters. Tiger Woods did it twice. Who is the other player? ??

I only considered Euro and US major tours (excl. senior tours, i.e. 6 tours in total) - and only in "modern times". To my knowledge no other European country has done that (incl. UK), but please let me know if I'm wrong as there are no official stats for that.
Just going back a bit to pedro's question a couple of days ago...
Didn't know initially what tornament wins he had in mind and said UK.... What I had in mind there was the week last year when Tom Lewis (ENG) won the Portugese Open. Same week Sam Little (ENG) won in Rome on the CT, Doug McGuigan (SCO) won the Zambian Open on the Sunshine tour and Carl Mason (ENG) had a win on the European Senior Tour.
But anyway, extending a bit pedro's rules and including also the seniors and the other official tours (ladies and gents)...
Name the European country who had 5 wins on the same week! ...and you should get extra brownie points for each of the winners you can name!

Pd, does a Major win count as a same-week win on multiple tours?

Re: Trivia
This one died here quietly, so here's the answer...
Happened only 6 month ago... 5 UK winners:
M. Hoey (European Tour)
P. Casey (Korean Tour)
M. Baldwin (Challenge Tour)
F. Johnson (Ladies ET)
M. Mouland (Senior ET)
Interestingly enough, 3 of the other 4 official tournaments that week have been won by Koreans (or quasi-Koreans), but obviously not in Korea: Bae Sang-Moon in Japan, Kevin Na on the PGAT and Danny Lee on NWT...

Re: Trivia
Not a trivia question, too trivial for that, but Charles Howell played Round 2 without a bogey (you all know that), the first time in 110 Major Championship rounds he has done such a thing.
The record (since 2001 anyway) is held by KJ Choi at 136, with Poulter second at 124 and Roary Sabbatini also at 110!

If Louis wins today he has two majors before his 30th birthday. Anyone fancy naming the other 4 players to do that since 1980?

Woods, Els, Daly, Seve it is. Counting Seve as his second was the '80 Masters.
Lyle turned 30 2 months before his Masters. Stewart was 32 before his first.

Re: Trivia
Sorry I posted the answer earlier but for some reason it did not appear.
Some very clever answers but I am sure that a sixpence is worth a lot more than 2.5p with inflation.
Mac just to let you know 10p had not been invented until 1972[?]
Just a wee bit more specific please SDTM as plastic was expensive in 1952.

Re: Trivia
Not questions, but a couple of trivia notes...:
- In Carl Pettersson's five Tour wins there has never been a non-American runner-up. He's beaten Chad Campbell, Z Johnson and Wetterich (tied), McCarron, D Wilson and Johnson again
- If he's still being thought of as Swedish, Pettersson makes it 4 European wins on tour this year, to 13 American wins. But halfway through April, there still hasn't been a single International win. This is the first time since 2002 that there hasn't been an International win by the end of January, the first time since Vijay's Masters in 2000 that they haven't chalked one up by the first major of the year, and the first time since 1989 that we've got this far without one. That year the first Baker-Finch, at Colonial at the end of May.

Re: Trivia
I just noticed a strange stat regarding a pro golfer of relatively recent history (1970's to 1990's primarily) who has accumulated 14 top 31's or better (including a handful of Top Tens) in one Major, but nothing better than 31st in any of the other.
Who is that pro golfer?

Hmm... surely more likely to be a European, and the Open, than anything else. I'd guess Torrance or James? Neither of those had great US records as I remember.

Re: Trivia
Sure I saw something about them and their record against the european heavy weights in the late 70's up to about 82! Some other pretty big scalps to. Then the Rangers/Celtic monopoly really took hold and now since the administration its even more one way traffic for the SPL.
