Wimbledon - Who's Got Lucky?

Had a nice letter delivered in the post today. I've been lucky in the Wimbledon ballot and have "won" two tickets for centre court on the second monday. Feeling very happy as this is always a full day of tennis as it usually features mens and womens 4th round matches. Also on centre court it won't be spoiled by the rain.

Has anyone else got lucky yet?

Oh! I guess I'm the only one that got lucky. I must be very, very lucky or did no one else enter the ballot?

I entered the ballot, but since then I've bought world tour finals and French Open tickets, so I will be seeing tennis this year whatever. I will be happy with a Grounds pass at Wimbledon.

I have not heard anything. It's still too early for some people to reply as some people may get their letter later in the week.

A ground pass at Wimbledon is great value particularly in the first week. Only so many players can fit on the show courts so you get to see lots of quality tennis close up.

By the way Henman Bill, how do you get French Open tickets? I can't seem to find how and when to get them.

Bit late I'm afraid.

They use a different system to Wimbledon, first come first served and no ballot. The good news is that you can buy anything you want, the bad news is that you could only do that at 6am on the 15th February. Within an hour or two good stuff like the middle weekend and the final was gone. I assume most or all of the seats have sold out by now. I imagine there are plenty of websites offering tickets, but they are probably going to rip you off.

If you don't have an urgent need I would wait until next year. I have got the last three days covering men's singles semis, men's doubles final, women's singles final and men's singles final. All upper tier. The lower tier tickets for men's were gone by the time I got in, despite refreshing every minute or 2 from 5.45am on!

There is also a face value resell through Viagago at some stage.

This year they said they would put the tickets on sale after 7am (6am UK time) but actually did so at ~6.50am. The queue length was already up to an hour by 7am. It is worth emailing them in advance about the time of the sale.
