What team do you support? True answers only
What's your nationality?
First topic message reminder :
I'm interested in the composition of 606v2 - there's certainly a lot more Scots than I'd have expected for a start!

I checked on google map, cornwall is nicely to the side of England, why did Cornwall never tried to get independance?
Is there a reason why you guys feel that way?

Re: What's your nationality?
There is a campaign for Cornish independence but it doesnt enjoy enormous support. Cornwalls wealth from mining (mainly tin I believe) has long since subsided and now their main industry is tourism. Cornwall would not be able to survive economically as an independent nation. That said, I guess it could as a nation within a union with Wales and England, should the Scots decide to take their leave but it does seem fairly pointless and more of a gesture than anything else as they would be fully dependent on England and Wales to survive

Do you think they will allow me to come in with my 10 rand and a son who might one day be able to play cricket for them?
I also want to bring the wife and motorcycle.

I'm sure you'd be most welcome. Remember that the Cornish word for wife and sister is exactly the same: mum

I'd say many would like more say over our affairs (like the welsh assembly) but have no desire to leave the UK.

Now you see that reminds me of the jokes they make about the people who live in Boksburg here in Gauteng........................
But I am sure it isn't the same thing.

not enough of the population are cornish to want it now and it was taken away such a long time ago i don't think it'd work now.
Having said that, places with much less than 500K people do exist and do well enough,

You'd have to build a big bridge across or else be forever separated by darkest Devon and Somerset.

Samoa have a population just a little under half of that, Tonga even fewer, and they manage to be ranked ahead of a third of the 6N teams. It's just incredible that so many giant nations feature Samoan or Tongan born players in their first choice line ups.

Small details. Russia and Azerbaijan both have areas cut off from other countries. We'll just use ferries innit

Well he is only 8 now, so still developing skills, but the head coach of the u9 told me that he has a natural eye and talent for batting. Not that I would like to say this, but he has the same attitude as KP.

Indeed, Love to. It was the saxon migration into the areas between us that drove the wedge in the first place.
we could kick them out of devon and somerset and link back up again?
Many of my friends support wales not eng due to being celtic. I'm always torn as Cornish lads tend to play for eng due to being in the RFU structure. Though right now the only cornish lad plays for wales, so wales it is.

we're not as good at it though there are plenty of places to play and develop and the good ones often end up further up in somerset to play at the high level.

My old rugby coach was the Cornish pirates scrum half dad, Alan Cattle. Maybe Cornish clubs could switch to the WRU? Though that wouldnt be a great idea seeing as theyre skint

Irish born and bred, lived in the Shaft for 10 years before moving to God's own county of Tyrone, although I'm closer to the Monaghan border than my nearest town in Tyrone... Family are all from Tyrone/Monaghan (not far from Tommy Bowe's homestead)
Lived in Glasgow for 4 years now so could qualify on residency but love Ireland more than anything... Just don't want to work there when I graduate!!!

Re: What's your nationality?
Born in England, Irish Grandparent and was approached a number of decades ago to see if I was interested in age group rugby for Ireland (they must have been desperate, but I was much bigger than just about anyone else I know in my age group, and quick).
Lived in Turkey and France, but will always be English.
When do we get our referendum on the union; I suspect it would show up some surprising results that would be very unpalatable for the politicians.

Re: What's your nationality?
Born in England with English parent and English grandparent. Going back another three generations have them all English (except we don't know for sure who my Gran's dad is so there are possibilities). Closest is my great-great-grand father who's surname was Jones (although parents were from London area).
I've traced my paternal line back to 1752 and most lived in Norton near Leek (until my granddad moved to the big city [Stoke]) and were miners all the way back.
EDIT: Pretty boring, only interesting thing is my surname changed in mid 1800's and changed back around 1900.

If you read anything into any stats whatsoever, you cannot possibly know anything about rugby. Someone proved that on a thread a few days ago

I was involved in 8.37% of that very argument. But I think I might have caused 28.2% of the trouble that brewed up around it. Luckily enough, I was only 3.72% guilty - which is well below my thread disruption average

Ain't that the truth. I have been freed from conventional thinking, I have seen the light, it is now my mission in life to rid the rugby world of statistics 25% of the time, the other 75% of my time will be to verify analysis based on factual evidence, video and technical analysis.ChequeredJersey wrote:If you read anything into any stats whatsoever, you cannot possibly know anything about rugby.
