Tomb Raider Begins
So Crystal Dynamics are rebooting Tomb Raider, with a new game in production featuring a 21 year old Lara being shipwrecked upon a strange island. I'll assume there will be a tomb there... The game is said to be more violent with devious traps and an emphasis on survivalism as in collecting food and water. It is also going to be a origins story regarding Lara Croft and will seek to reboot the series completely...
Here is the trailer - looks good (but dont all trailers these days?)

So anyone likely to buy and did you play any of the originals?

Re: Tomb Raider Begins
They tried the same thing with the 2006 Tomb Raider: Legend and it didn't work then and got progressively worse with the proceeding two games.
Trailer looks good and they have been making some nice noises about what they want to do but the fact they seem to be looking to go combat heavy in this game and the silly hint system they want to include is increasingly of putting.
They seem intent on trying to desperately cash in on the fast paced action market that out there and have failed miserable in doing so over three previous games. They'd be better trying to stick to their original core fan base that loved the games in the late 90's and making a great game which is reasonably successful is better than making a rubbish game which has the same success. Even if they got the success they desired and broke into that quick pick up and play market they'd still have a mediocre game, though Uncharted does pretty well in that sphere.
I'll end up buying as I have with every previous game as I'm a fan of the early games and hope for a revival that I can never see coming while Crystal Dynamic is at the helm.
