Almagro= Ferrer's pet puppy.
He'll choke, Ferrer fans such as JM don't have to worry.

Interesting point about his ego. He appears to be very passionate and not skilful at controlling his temper (but got better lately). Losses keep that nasty side of him in check, fortunately. He'd probably be unbearable if he was beating everyone.
Can't imagine him having too many friends on tour, his two guys in the box are a bit off-putting. Bird could do with a change of coach, someone to shake his game up a bit before it's too late.
I am sure he will mellow with time. But for now....I can't see what it is. I prefer Stepanek a 100 times.

Step is a graceful player, but I do like Bird's power, which made me think that ideally if you could merge them inot one they'd be a great player.
Next thought was are there players with power and grace and.... one came to mind!

Yes, but that's where power should've ended, unfortunately, it carried on.....and now we have 6 hour long finals on hard courts....never mind....it can't last for ever.

Almagro up a set on Ferrer.
Lendl came from a different Czech mindset, unlike Berdych.

Let me help you out here, you saw Berdych against Istomin.
I agree on NITB's remark about Berd's smooth hitting. Some of his shots are coming so much harder form his racket than his swing suggests at first sight, that's the enjoyable part of him.

Which final would you watch
Del Potro v Llodra
Ferrer v Almagro
or Melzer v Raonic?
I would choose Ferrer v Almagro. Although Llodra v Melzer if somehow it could have been arranged might have been good...

I've seen the first one and am going through the second, Almagro losing big time two breaks of serve down, silly mistakes.

Exactly. What a memory! I knew that if I were to check on the atp ranking his name would strike me but was too lazy to do so.
Very close match...of that I remember.

I don't like Raonic's FH. It doesn't look good...even when he hits winners with it.

His forehand is very raw and natural, like Ivanisevic's serve. That's why it looks a bit wooden.

It doesn't look natural to me. Goran's serve was beautiful.
In fact Raonic doesn;t look like a tennis player....but I know he will most likely win the first slam out of the young generation.

And despite his amazing serve and many free points he gets with it, he lost.
I don;t know how to define his FH but in French we say "petit bras" (small arm). small swing.

O dunno, I am a great believer in a good pair of legs.
I also think that the current top crop is quite young still and that the generation after Raonic's will be the "new" one.
Raonic has improved a lot, but to me looks like a top tenner at best.

Raonic is definitely leader of the current "young" pack, probably because he's he most stable upstairs.
Mind you, I really liked Olivetti's serve.
I hope he doesn't disappear into oblivion after Marseille...

Essentially cause Raonic is physically the most "developed" for now....and Tomic a close second.
But we see very clearly the danger of speeding the courts with such servers....it's can very quickly turn into a lottery.
