The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Ben Morgan, Stuart Hogg, Simon Zebo and birthday boy Penfro above the bar.

What's the difference between Gymru and Cymru?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Cymru starts with a C and is therefore subject to mutation to Gymru with a G after certain words
For, on, at, by, without, whilst, from, oh and to.
Therefore Oh Wales becomes O Gymru.

Well I could see that Cymru started with a C and Gymru started with a G.
Now I know why.
Thanks.

Its the same word but the first letter is often changed depending on the word that comes before it, Its called mutate 'treiglo' in Welsh.

Just one quick question, is the view that Munster have no creativity just a cliché? If you look at the last 3/4 games, Munster have scored some magnificent tries with great interplay between backs and forwards. Jones' try yesterday was the pick of the bunch.

I have a Irish friend called Aine and I pronounced it as I read it, took her a few weeks to tell me it was pronounced Onia but we got there in the end

Decent weekend of sport all round.
Carling Cup on Sunday. Liverpool vs Cardiff. Apparently Stevie Gerrard's cousin plays for Cardiff. Article below.

He's not. He's a defender who is a plodder but thinks he's Stevie instead on concentrating on his bit.

Wiki
International career
Gerrard qualifies for the Republic of Ireland through his grandparents. He had represented the Republic of Ireland's under-18 team earlier in his career. On 4 March 2011, Gerrard pledged his allegiance to the Republic of Ireland and said "I pledged my allegiance to the Republic and I would love the chance to play for the senior squad."[19]
In April 2011, Gerrard received full clearance to play for the Republic of Ireland.

Aaarrrggghhh. That will be the pub out of bounds tomorrow. The last time Liverpool played at Wembley (15-16 years ago) they trashed the place
The pub is in Stanmore. Fans from oop north park their mini-buses there, get bladdered, then get the Jubilee line to Wembley.

We're allowed to have ice cream in Wales, Biltong, but only with a lump of coal instead of a Flake.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Sorry,
Was off on the ballet run.
Does G to - mean the G disappears or that you can't remember what replaces it?
Cymro,
Aine is one of the easy ones. You should see some Irish names. I seem to remember one of the Dublin lads even had to ask how to pronounce one of them a while back.
There's a girl in the same class as one of my kids' who has an Irish name but pronounces it as if it was English. It's really hard to remember that we have to say it "wrong" when she's around!

No Mrs P, - is a letter in the Welsh alphabet, but you don't say it, you have to click your fingers.
I wish that was true.

I went for Stuart Hogg, Mrs P - it turns out the back three don't have to be two wingers and a full back. I was trying to get enough money together to bring in Morgan Parra, but to no avail.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Well thats a good omen for Trimby then!
I'd love to see him have a good game today, he's worked exceptionally hard to get back in the Ireland team and he's been in and out. Sometimes in sport it's nice to see hard work rewarded. It may not matter if you don't cut the mustard, but it'd be hard to begrudge him a bit of luck along the way!

Outside our centres? Not going to be a top try scorer without a Welsh or French accent
