The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Ben Morgan, Stuart Hogg, Simon Zebo and birthday boy Penfro above the bar.

Yea in truth I've developed a bit of a phobia of flying even though I've flown to europe loads of times in recent years.... wouldn't mind trying the boat for a change but don't want to waste too much time in transit....

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
You could sail to Pembroke, drive to Dover and sail to Calais.
Limerick to Rosslare is 3 hours
Its about 4 hours to Pembroke Dock
Then spend a night in say Cardiff or Bristol or London
Drive to Dover the next day (its 6 hours from Pembroke to Dover so you'd need break it up)
Sail to calais
Calais to Paris is around 3 and a half hours.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Surely that would take longer than Rosslaire to Cherbourg? Yeah maybe might take a longer trip later in the year......
feck it might have to go to the states twice this year anyways so may have to just take diazepam and suck it up!

Just think, Declan Kidney is at home right now celebrating the win with a Pina Colada and a Hawaiian Shirt. Probably has four or five different sets of sunglasses.

Bore da.
The ball was in a derelict stately home and the stupid feicers thought people would 'dance to keep warm' and didn't have any heating
The men were OK, we just kept our DJ's closed, but the women in the ball gowns and scarves were freezing, too cold and sober to start dancing!

Good Morniing/bore da pub.
Congratulations to all the Welsh regs on yesterday's win and on taking the triple crown - at Twickenham.
I haven't watched the game yet, I didn't get back from work till gone six o'clock and me ma was already here waiting to be fed and watered.
Off to look at a couple of jobs now, so hopefully I'll get it in before or after the Scotland game.
Sounds like it's worth a watch.

What I didnt notice first time:
Corbisiero was outstanding.
What I did:
Halfpenny - Man of the Match.

English regs - taht was some match from you guys yesterday. Relief was mostly what I felt at the end, think my nerves were shot by how close it was in the end.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Morning pub. There was a cracking piece of 'banter' in the pub in Ealing after the England v Wales game yesterday. One of the regulars, a Welsh lad called Clive, went home to watch the match after Ealing's 2pm game. On his return to the pub, he tells us "Watch me wind Ray up." Ray being very English, and as an ex flanker, known by the soubiquet 'attack dog'.
Clive is wearing an overcoat and a small red scarf with white 'piping'. "Unlucky today Ray." "Yuh, cheers Clive."
Clive says "Looking around, it disappoints me to see my countrymen gloating and openly displaying their garish colours in the pub; I feel I should apologise for them." "Yuh" says Ray.
With that Clive says "Right, I'm going to get a pint in" and takes off his coat to reveal a rugby shirt that is white on the top half, green on the bottom with a huge feic off red dragon front and back, topped off with a massive red and white scarf. Garish ain't the word!
Clive says "You alright Ray?"
You have to know the characters I guess, but, feck, I didn't stop laughing for 10 minutes.

Still an awful lot to improve on though Dreamer.
The score line was a bit flattering in some respects.
Still, good to get a match played let alone a win!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
that's a good thing though MrsP, if you can score all those tries and still see such room for improvement!
And like you say, tis good for you guys to get another game under your belt.
Would love to see the difference a decent 10 could do for Italy though. They do 75% of everything so well but just can't seem to push on. Was very impressed with them for the first half.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
They were indeed. The gap is definately closing but the Italy game is one I can never really feel good about.
It's one of those that you are so expected to win that the only emotion afterwards is relief that it wasn't us that slipped on the great big Azure banana skin!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I know that feeling very well! I'm nervous about our match against them already. If you let them get an early couple of scores in, they are very, very difficult to put away.
I think teams underestimate them now at their perile. Italy are good, and are only one or two players off being v good (although not great)

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
The Italian National team would struggle in the HC.
Ireland needed BOD yesterday to calm, settle, lead, organise and provide an example. Kearney needs that role in his absence - make him captain, he can do it from full back, he is your talisman now.

Kearney was v v good yesterday, easily Ireland's best player on the pitch.
I don't think they'd struggle in the HC, Glas.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Bear in mind we beat Italy 36-3 in the RWC before losing to Wales.
Now we beat Italy 42-10 and lost to Wales (by a smaller amount)
Very very very small progress?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
They'd give plenty of teams a hard time in the Heineken Cup with that pack of forwards. They'd do well, probably. Wales should put a big score on the though; I still think they aren't capable of 80 minutes at the intensity needed to hold them off completely.

Evans and Ruan interchangeable really. Neither would be in if Charteris was fit. Murray is the same type as Phillips. Would consider Sexton as a 12 or ROG and Farrell at 12

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Honestly think Paul O'Connell will be on the next Lions tour and very likely on the test team. Between himself and Warburton for Captain.
33 isn't past it for a second row and I think his class and inspirational presence is beyond doubt.
