The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Ben Morgan, Stuart Hogg, Simon Zebo and birthday boy Penfro above the bar.

I don't mean just on the pitch. I'm talking about developing your younger players and encouraging the paying customer as well. Surely to grow the game, the better and more established players must be encouraged to stay. There is a similar debate going on about the provinces. I think a strong Club culture is essential for National success as well.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Thing is though Rava at the moment, our better more established players are aged between 20-28 (the majority of them) and as long as they're staying (as they seem to be) I don't see the problem.
The older ones leaving then free up places for our academy players to come through.
Scarlets main first choice backline players this season are all under 25 (apart from Stevo and Monty when they play), not really sure what more can be done to develop our younger players??

There isn't really a problem then. I assumed from the earlier comments that there was some concern over the player exodus! I'll shut up then

Just makes me dislike the unions even more I'm affraid Lucky and all this will do is serve to give public sector workers an even worse name. Not happy, and I don't like it. Bad idea imo.
Bah can you believe that the JD2 story on BBC sport is right at the bottom of the rugby pages, yet the story about T R Thomas leaving the Blues is right at the top - he's not even a current international! Why do they always have to big up the bad news, and sideline the good stuff??

Why call a press conference if you're just going to announce the same team again. May as well just play the recording of the last one and save everyone a trip.

Are you unhappy with the side, Willy, or unhappy that he didn't play a recording of the last team announcement?

What do we think of this?
I think that the founders of the trade unions (who were campaigning for genuine and necessary improvements to the lot of workers) would be appalled at what is being done by their successors as a publicity stunt.

I do think we'll see some rotation against Scotland mind you. Then probably back to porridge for the last game with maybe one or two differences.

Massive own goal. Allows the Tory party to play to their base and maybe alienates the public.

Yes. Stopping people get to work winds them up, but stopping them getting to the biggest sporting show on earth? Not clever.

I know people are disturbed at the amounts of money spent on the Olympics but this is a union that represents mostly public sector employees, right?
How does interfering with the event that is likely to bring the greatest amount of tourist money to the country, help the public purse?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Hi all.
I am fairly tempted by Cardiff on the 17th if I'm honest. St Patrick's Day too and a Super Saturday. Lot of black stuff to drink. Will there be an announcement on the Dewdrop, as it's a bit easier to follow people's plans in there than in here.
Nice double header for me on Saturday with Risca Athletic v Pill then Dragons v Munster. Nice way to get back into watching games.
My back is ok today but the five mile run I did followed by a boozy day (and no stretching) has wrecked my calves and quads. Silly old me.

Whos this 'we'? Does he, Thornley, ROG, O'Connell and Keith Earls parents go into a room and pick the side or something?

What other coaches Notch? We don't have a backs coach and Gert Smal is blind at the minute. How much deliberating does there need to be?

Gert Smal/Anthony Foley, Les Kiss, Mark Tainton.
Is another thing Declan Kidney says pretty much every week. It's amazing the way he never really says anything.
“The lads trained well yesterday. There are obviously a number of fellas I would like to give a start to. That’s never the issue, but you have to weigh it up then with all the guys who started and played.

If he said something he would completely alienate three quarters of the fans. This way he slightly alienates them all.

Poor guy... I caught him on a show just recently...looked a pretty healthy 66 year old to me. Strange the way the wilder guys with the heavily lived-in bodies seem to clock up better mileage than the youthful, good looking guys (Robert Palmer another case in point)

Evening all
Tomorrow I will be booking tickets for me and my team at work for the London Irish v Leicester Tigers game on 25th March. It's the Paddys Day party game (yes I know it's 8 days late) which is always great craic. if anyone here wants to go, then let me know and I can get you a ticket when I phone up tomorrow afternoon.
