If it didn't bomb but instead was a blockbuster would cena have left the wwe? I think he would.

Doesn't really matter to be honest. The mummy 2 and scorpion king were flaming awful and Rock still turned his attentions to Hollywood

Cena is a big enough name to do the same I reckon. Even now I reckon he only gets roles because of who he is because he's a terrible actor tbh. Think his best movie might be fast an furious which speaks volumes

Except Cena can't act to save his life. Cena would go if he has loads of offers from Hollywood but the truth is nobody is interested. Every film he has been in has been rubbish!

The rock has been in some really good films Tbh

Actually Fast Five with Rock in wasn't a bad film at all. Maybe because it ditches street racing and focused on a robbery, and I wasn't a fan of the other Fast films. Still the man has done The Tooth Fairy and Doom, the latter no one saw.

Cenas films all suck (sounds familiar), The Marine was a waste of my life. 12 Rounds was slightly better but still poor.

I'm not going to say all kids are idiots, but only kids and idiots can find Cenas films good.

The Rock was brilliant in Be Cool and Fast Five, he is getting better as he gets older where as Cena will always be a terrible actor and wrestler

The massive difference being that both those fist two Rock film were massive box office successes to the extent where you could probably add all other WWE productions not including Rock together and still the total would be less than that of the Scorpion King. The Marine on the other hand was a box office failure though as far as WWE productions (not including Rock) go it's probably the second best one behind Kane's attempt in terms of money to budget ratio.

more often than not its because Cena plays the lead role in films, Rock is in good films but he isn't always the lead role, Fast 5, big role but not main, GI Joe looks like it will be alright, big role not main. Cena needs to be in films where he takes a back seat.

Even if you discount films Rock plays alongside another main actor his films still gross big at the Box Office compared to any other WWE star. If you take his first 10 films where he was the main star name then you have the following films.

Scorpion King
Walking Tall
Gridiron Gang
The Game Plan
Race To With Mountain

Even the least successful of those in Gridiron Gang was a bigger success than anything else the WWE have produced. Though Kane's did better on a cost per return ratio.

The biggest grossing WWE film to date is the Marine with £22m that's about half of what Rock pulled in for Gridiron Gang.

The point I was trying to make is Cena keeps using the fact the rock left to pursue movies and he sold out. Cena is trying to tell me if he's movie career went through the roof he would have refuted the idea of moving into being an actor full-time? Give me a break! The Rock stated when he left you wouldn't see him in a long time and he stayed true to his word.

The promo Cena cut on him just came across bitter and jealous imo.

The Marine 2 was quite good and Ted was better in that than he is in the ring.

The Marine 1 was a bit far fetched and cheap looking even by WWE Films standards.

Quoted for truth.

I've resisted posting a massive rant about Cena and the "boys" acting so jealous towards The Rock because quite frankly the whole roster should STFU and appreciate Rocky for reopening his door to the seedy business known as Professional Wrestling.

I think rock is secretly loving the fact that no matter how hard Cena tries he won't come anywhere near as over as him.

There is just to many holes in Cena's argument imo.

Just had a look at the grossing estimates and the Rock has starred in films that grossed approximately 3 billion dollars, cena 40 million.

Rocks least grossing film hasnearly matched cenas entire cataogue.

I'd love him to bring this up on raw even if it would be a complete disaster for the feud etc.

WWE Films arent exactly likely to produce huge Box Office movies on par with those made by Hollywood hotshots with enormous budgets and massive promotion. Of course The Rock's movies will be higher grossing. Most of the WWE Films go straight to DVD anywhere outside the States.

You cant compare them.

John Cena's "I stayed here and never went to Hollywood" argument holds no water because he's never had the opportunity to go there, he wasn't in demand in Tinseltown like the Rock was.

It's like me turning round to my girlfriend and saying "I never had relations of an intimate nature with Stacy Keibler, I stayed here with you" ignoring the fact that I've never had the choice between my girlfriend and Stacy Keibler (it's Stacy all the way BTW Wink )

Most go straight to DVD due to how badly the previous films did at the Box Office it was becoming apparent that it was becoming folly to do anything but direct to DVD launches. While WWE studios, when not doing joint productions like they did for Scorpion King, Welcome to the Jungle and Walking Tall, are unable to throw big budgets behind they still managed to throw $20m at two productions of Cena's and almost $10m at another two films, which should be more than enough. Yet despite these amounts only really See No Evil can walk away from the Box Office with it's head held high and it was one of the films that was just short of $10m to make.

There's been plenty of movies that have produced good/massive box office figures with budgets in the $10-30m bracket, in WWE's case either the story or the stars weren't good enough to make it work and nothing to do with the budget at all. As for having less marketing well the WWE fan base in itself ain't a bad base to pull from yet despite this the last 4 movies they allowed to hit the Box Office have made around £250k between them which is pathetic, I'm guessing the WWE fan base is a lot greater than 50k so I can't accept reduced marketing has anything to do with the poor showings it just seems they have bad product.
