606 Rugby - why do you use it?
I know that's stating the obvious but I must run along the V2 board writing serious well thought out posts (on occasion) interspersed with a large number of fun Wumming with Hersh et al and the occasional serious head to head difference of opinion with someone who is obviously failing to agree with my articulate points and are therefore clueless of course.
So in essence I get (i) serious debate (ii) fun wumming and (iii) the odd
A lot of posters keep it straight and occasionally get into the banter - What do you get out of 606V2? and where did the RugbyShrink go:

I simply enjoy the exchange of views, hearing other posters' thoughts on various rugby topics and learning about stuff that interests me (oh and sometimes having a laugh by way of banter/lite WUM)

Generally I prefer the rugby discussion with a bit of light hearted banter. The worst wums dont seem to actually know much about the game whatever nationality they come from even when they are kiwis pretending to be English.

A considerable stimulation of views with the variety of posters you get around here. Also the banter provides for a very good atmosphere, much better than the old 606 in that respect.

For example Tycroes?
I think we all use this website to stave off monotony at work!
It is nice to get a view outside your own country´s tunnel-visioned media. I think you get a better insight into other teams and their fans when you wander into no-man´s land rather than stay entrenched in your own positions.

Re: 606 Rugby - why do you use it?
Agh, Ok fine, I'll be serious for a moment.
I first and foremost come on here to discuss rugby. I like to go into depth on matches and like to look as critical at my country's rugby situation as possible.
I don't like going onto SA websites to discuss rugby, as they wum and maon about the same thing, so pretty much there is little debate, only a growing avalanche of like minded posts.
Here posters disagree with me and often I would find one or two posters in a thread that I can have a satisfactory debate with.
The other reason is my alter ego which likes to have fun, I am at a stage in my life where I have learn't humour is a very important part of life and hence I enjoy being witty and making a joke, especially on a thread that some times become boring.
Often I would find some nightwalker that can't sleep and then we will joke about trying to outwit one another and I find that a lot of fun.
I try not to lose my cool bt have done on the odd occasion, unfortunately there are some real plonkers out there.

Mate I watch more rugby than most.
I just don't believe player X was great just because someone said so.

Re: 606 Rugby - why do you use it?
I come on here because the news you get is usaully more accurate than some of the stuff you get from other web sites. I am my own boss so when I need five minutes I come on here to mainly browse as I like to here what other people opinions are, I sometimes get embrawled into arguments with wums, but more often than not I just look for snippets of info as most of you on here seem to have your finger on the pulse when it comes to transfers or squad/team news for up and comming games. THEN THERE IS THE BANTER AND GLOATING, it has been pretty good for us Welsh the past couple of weeks.

I likw the fact we can refer to a poster as ASBO without fear of a telling off from the council for refering to one of us as anti social!

My wife and I work for ourselves, we have a short term brokerage and we work from home, so I have plenty of time, sometimes I get busy but most of my clients come see me, so I don't spend a lot of time on the road.

I go on any sporting thread when my team is playing. Therefore i come on here when the world cup is on the 6n's are on or the odd friendly game!! i allways did the same on 606. I hang about on this board more than most because it is the busiest forum out of the major sports i watch or play!
But when the 6n's are over i will be hanging about the golf or cricket boards more

Re: 606 Rugby - why do you use it?
I use it to:
1) Keep tabs on what's going on in the rugby world and the GAA (I use that section too) - tend to hear a lot more on here than elsewhere.
2) Keep in touch with those I know personally and have a virtual chat with other fans. It's quite fun chatting whilst watching a game on here. I also use the off-topic sections as well, which can be entertaining.
3) Pass the time.

I come on to try and reassure people that they can trust their eyes and not become over-reliant of stats to tell them what has just gone on.A challenge as a large number have bought into this latest fad.
Perhaps it might spook them if I told them that it was I who compile these stats and they are all made up just to satisfy their craving!

I like the Banter, i like to hear other fans views on their own team, and on other fans teams.
I love this time of year 6ns that is. Every one wanting their team to win every game, and whe they dont listen to the reason why they didn't.(especialy if you team was tipped to win)
And also i dont get mutch chance to go to any games, so watch all my rugby on tv. Then come on here to talk about the game.

You protest too much my dear Sir. Admit that you have tabled stats on every electronic device you own, of every meter ran by Shane williams, every turn over Warburton is responsible for, and last but not least, every match Wales lost becuase of a red or yellow card.
Come on man, the closet door is in reach, just grab and turn.

Re: 606 Rugby - why do you use it?
The game itself is the glory...it's actually a relief sometimes when the chat stops and the real reason for being here happens - the game. But it's nice to come in and hear what others think about what went right or wrong and what might be done better.
I also like when two wits collide (two wits! - not twits, but they can be funny too) and just read them as they dance around each other. That actually happened more on the old 606 and I miss it. I like people who take the sport seriously but not themselves. I like when threads mix fun and info in equal measure.
I chat here until I realise that the guy called Fly bores me...and then I leave for an extended period to recharge my batteries.
I think another extended break approaches!

Re: 606 Rugby - why do you use it?
I use 606 because my therapist recommended it as an outlet for my sociopathic fixation with Declan Kidney and frustrations at the state of Irish rugby.............
....seriously I enjoy coming on here and debating rugby with people who are as passionate or even more passionate than I am about the game.
I particularly enjoy discussing Ulster, Ireland and the other Irish provinces and there are some fantatic Irish posters here. This place is a fountain of knowledge.
As well as debating with the Irish posters and ddiscussing the Irish back row balance and Sexton v ROG once a fortnight, I also really enjoy the banter with the English, Welsh, Scottish, Kiwi, SA, Ozzie etc. posters and everyone else on here...the RWC last year was great craic and hopefully everyone will still be here for the next one
It also helps me stay awake at work......

Re: 606 Rugby - why do you use it?
news papers and rugby shows on tv are so bland and predictable. I need somewhere to go to get my rugby fix. As someone mentioned above its interesting to hear other people's point of view from different countries.
It's a shame that's there's so many wums as in between the chaf there's some good rugby chat. Unfortunately you tend to get sucked in to WUM threads as usually there's an interesting point underneath.

Actually, having a choc ice in your shorts pocket and it not melting in New Zealand isn't all that big a deal. It gets Cold there too peoples.
But I would have questioned John's sanity though as there are better places to store a choc ice than right next to a hotdog.

I come here to discuss Rugby, and ocassionly indulge in banter,as I have done previously. With 606,Rugby Rebels,Freeserve and other sites since owning a Pc in 2003.
I actually am an Anglo-Scot not a Kiwi, but a bigger AllBlacks fan than many Kiwi`s[since 1953].I probably know more about NZ Rugby than most Kiwi`s and Rugby generally.

I guess we all like to discuss rugby,
except for when there is a controversial decision and it turns into a witch hunt.
