Seems like Rhys would like to follow in the footsteps of his mentor Wellies.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/wales/17224678

It would seem to be nothing more then speculation. But with all of the talk of an exodus is Welsh rugby, was this really the right time for Rhys to be telling the media of his desire to play in France one day?

He's under a lot of pressure at the moment as the Welsh fly half. Maybe he thinks moving away will ease the pressure on him and help him earn a bit extra to boot. Hook is still getting picked despite playing in France so Rhys wouldn't miss out on Wales caps.

Rhys has got 2 years left on his contract at the Scarlets. When that is up, he'll be 27, only a bit younger than Stevo was when he moved to France.

What's all the controversy about that?

Would prefer him to stay with the region till he's about 29 or so, but don't see what's wrong with talking about your aspirations for the future.

I mean, he's not talkinga bout an immediate move, is he?

No hes not talking about moving right now. But with all of the fuss because a few of our more seasoned players are moving on to greener pastures it just seems like a poor time to be expressing the view in the media. But as stated, he is locked down at the Scarlets for two more years.

Guess he can't help what a reporter asks him.

And sorry if I came across as a bit grumpy Coleman, I'm just fed up of the media blowing this whole situation waaaaaay out of proportion.

Mind you, the Scarlets do seem to be accepting transfer fees for players at the moment... Whistle Run

Here's another rubbish news article from yesterday;

"Cardiff Blues issue hands-off warning to rivals....."
That's the headline, but I can't see a hands-off warning in the article.

Rumours are that it's a done even (someone even said they'd heard it was signed but not announced yet).

Narraway leaving Gloucester after saying he wanted to stay may suggest that a deal was done bringing someone new in (or that Narraway was full of Poopie, like most players when their contracts are up)

nope, not that I know of, but it seems fairly likely, who knows though, we might well be surprised and he stays for the whole of his contract!

No harm in keeping your options open with an honest conscience, at least he's not doing a Charteris or a Brew and pretending he'll stay. If a move is in store for Priestland it's over two years off.

Yeah I hear talk of Leinster hunting Warbs down, with the temptation of shekels & silverware. He'd fit roysh in.

6. SOB
7. Warburton
8. Heaslip.

Man.

Schmidt needs to have a word with him at Lansdowne, after the disappointment of Blues getting knocked out in the HC QF. Its all about timing.

It really is a nothing storey some Journo prob asked him, would he ever consider a move to France?
and he responded the way any player would, by saying they are keeping their options open its a few years away (and in the back of his mind he knows there will be a new contract to be negosatied)

Easy there Gibbo, Kidney's Ireland were due to be offering words of comfort and encouragement to a defeated and depleted Welsh outfit at Lansdowne at the close of the opening weekend. How did that go, were we outmuscled by 25 or did we hold out for a valiant 10-point loss? Wink

While his pay would rise considerably at Leinster, I'm not sure Sam the Man feels to chuffed at the possibility of having to rinse his club mates year in-year out when green meets red Yahoo

Laugh Ale
True Knowsit. True man. I just really like him as a player and as a man. He is superb. He, more than anyone, relfects the New Wales. No more Gavs or Powells or Byrnes (Phillips tries to) making it a laughing-stock. The whole ethos has changed with him in the team. And as captain. I could not rate him highly enough. Reminds me a bit of BOD. Pure class. As is Lydiate. As is Ryan Jones. 3 x backrow gents off the field and complete World class basterds on it. Perfect combo.

He is indeed and a top player too who should be playing for a top team. The same has been said about Sam's mentor, Martyn Williams.
It saddens me actually that MW never won a HEC gong and languished in a mostly rubbish Cardiff team for years.

Id sacrifice a bollock to have him at Leinster. I really believe he will be the equal to, if not better than - McCaw. At all levels.

I'd wish him the best if he went to Leinster.
No point him hanging around Cardiff Blues if he wants to be part of a team that has ambition and wants to win trophies.

Not harsh at all.
I watched Martyn Williams win nothing for years playing for a crap Cardiff side. I hope Sam doesn't follow in his footsteps.

Ah ok man. Understood. That was me for years too. With Hickie, BOD, Darcy, Horgan and Contepomi in their prime. Thought it was an awful waste of sublime talent. Just had no pack to feed em and give em go-forward ball back then. They had to do it all themselves. And then, it all happened.
