Tennis Player - Cryptic Clue Thread
First topic message reminder :
First person to get the confirmed correct answer gets to post the next clue. No need to give the number of characters in the name, but the clue must be for the first and last name (although variants of first name are allowed e.g. Andy or Andrew)
E.g. Delivered without Jay, a robot, without Cy = Bjorn Borg

Agassi? (due to his duck-like walking style perhaps).
Nothing much I can derive out of Quack.
Old = Geriatric = Gerry or Jerry?

Can I start with Da Vinci? Argh, the current one is a woman.
There is also a movie by that name, IIRC.
Italian male?

She sounds like a warrior princess, so she'll need some troops.

Warrior princess = Xena or maybe Zina?
Garrison where she might find her troops???
Zina Garrison is my wine fuelled inspired guess, but if correct still can't think of another clue

Zina Garrison is correct.
Clues (i.e. players we haven't already done) are harder to come by.

Yes it is. You are missing two more 'words' which are also part of the anagram.

Re: Tennis Player - Cryptic Clue Thread
teeth out? Or should it be 'will knock' - I am trying to think of the rules Julius explained about cryptic puzzles - perhaps 'teeth out' means these letters definitely not needed?

Thanks LF
lol...not sure many on here would want a clone of me!
I like these cryptic threads, I'll try and have a go although I'm a novice.
Do like to think laterally though!
Well done on the composition of the clues BTW! (you and JHM)

JHM is much better at it. I am just learning from him as well. TP and I are in the same boat.
NewBalls has not been back for a while, but he is good too. Amritia and some others come and go.
Good place to hide when needed.

Re: Tennis Player - Cryptic Clue Thread
Flip the Cow? is it using the letters in 'cow' in an anagram or a 'house' (restaurant) that 'flips' cows meat (beef) like McDonalds?
Is it Wendy (with an 's' at the end, US fast food joint like McDonalds) Turn(flip)-bull(cow)?

Wendy Turnbull is correct. Nothing to do with Wendy's fast food, just a Wendy House for kids.

Here's an easy one for the interim period (no need to check out on-line medical reference books for this!)
A Lard Ale Fan sounds disgusting but confusingly suggests the answer to this one.
